Diary Entry – 26th April 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! What a difference a day can make, don’t get me wrong i am still not wildly mobile and I think that I am still a few days away from being able to erratically do the conga but certainly compared to yesterday i can lift my legs up. I am still going extra steady and bending down is a struggle but I can now pick stuff and sit down for 15 minutes without getting that dull ache in my back. SO i am on the right track and my anxiety about having a bad back permanently is starting to subside.

Throwback Beef – 12 months ago today!

Happy New Solar Day! So despite threatening it for weeks we had not yet got round to ordering out solar panels and bits for the motorhome but today we did it! We have gone with 4 x 100w solar panels although the body shop are disputing whether we could get them all on the roof, as an eternal optimist i think it is possible but they will no doubt have the final say. So 4 x 100w solar panels and we have opted for 2 deep cycle 100ah LiPO4 batteries which should substantially improve our ca[abilities whilst not being on EHY. We are still umming and arring about whether we should get an inverter. I only want to have one plug in the motorhome powered by the inverter and that is for a low wattage air fryer.

We don’t spend a whole range of time off grid but would still like to be able to use it if needs be. It then removes the constant urge or need to be eating out or having take aways etc. We could go to somewhere like Santander where we were before and be more than comfortable for the maximum 3 days allowed without too much worry at all. It isn’t going to be enough power for the air con but we know that and to power our air con we would probably need a nuclear power plant. We could easily make do with the extractor fan on in the night time with the windows cracked open.

But certainly would allow and provide a bit of extra freedom for us in Europe. I wouldn’t spending a month or so again in Portugal to be honest and maybe even redo our first trip we ever did and take the Beef with us. I especially want to revisit Nazaré and that park up we went on before. I am not fussed about getting cliff edge close but even where we were before would be brilliant. That was some park up that was!
