Diary Entry – 22nd June 2023

It is match fishing day today, i have never entered into the match as a lot of the time it is full of miserable old men that take it far too seriously. My brother in laws Dad enters most of the time so we walked down with the Beef to go and see Cynth who is my brother in laws Mum. It was about 11 in the morning when we headed down, we tried to speak to Luke form the shop but he was busy with some work so we said we would head back up after. So we wondered down to Cynth and sat outside her camper. It was very warm so i said “do you have any squash?” she said no but i have a can of cold beer. So that was it an 11:15am can of beer.

I had been meaning to go and see Luke since we got here. I only had a limited amount of fishing stuff so needed to get a few bits to make sure i had enough to get by. Also to buy a day ticket. I was going to go on Friday but i was advised it would be best to go down after the match. I never knew that but i was advised there is no better time. SO later on that day i packed my bits up and headed down with 3 bottles of beer.

I know lots of people say fishing is boring and that is slow. I find it so therapeutic and i just love sitting by the side of water. Well, lakes, Stoke is full of canals but i wouldn’t sit by them. I had about 8 or 9 fish in the few hours that i was there so was probably a bit too hectic for me, i like to catch them but i like to relax as well and this wasn’t allowing me to do so. Have you ever heard of a fisherman that wants to catch less fish? I had to move pegs in the end as i had the sun just blasting on my face the whole time so i moved over into the swim opposite me and that was in the shade. Mum and the Beef came down to me and i got a handful of cracking picture of me and the Beef with a fisj including the one above where he is whispering to this lovely little mirror carp.
