Diary Entry – 21st March 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Going through the stress of the driving yesterday and being able to have a more relaxing day today was absolutely the right thing to do and sometimes it is always better for a bit of short term pain long term gain. We woke this morning at about 7am and just because of the surroundings i didn’t sleep the best but still felt relatively ok. I was most excited by the fact that there was a 24 hour café right by where we had parked so because we had not got any spare milk because the Beef gets through it like it is going out of fashion we couldn’t afford for him to not have some for when he woke up.

The entrance to Gibraltar!

I was at the front door of the café by 08:00 because Mum likes a cup of tea in a morning and we also bought some of her favourite sachet coffee so she was ready for a brew. The guy had just wiped the floor and asked me to come back in 20 minutes which i thought weas fair enough so i had a little walk around the port bit to just be nosey and see how far i could see and to see if i could see Spain and Gibraltar. I have always found it easier to see Europe than to see Morocco i don’t know why that is. We have never really been able to see Morocco from Gib or Spain but always can from the other way.

I went back after 20 minutes absolutely buzzing to see what food they had as well and when i got there there was some people sitting outside as well, 1 of them was asleep but the others were on the phone. The guy in the café shouted to another worker outside who told he it wasn’t open and it wasn’t going to open until 10am. I did point out about the sign said 24/7 but his English wasn’t that good. Stuff like that really REALLY annoys me! Why could he have just said that in the beginning or whatever. Anyway, in a semi tantrum i said to Mum, lets get through security and go to the café and the shops the other side as the web page for the port described it as a boutique! So through security, through the Xray scanner, past the sniffer dogs and into the main area to wait for the boat. There was a restaurant so we got ready to go again and we got there and it wasn’t open until 12 because of Ramadan. As you imagine by this point the Hanger was real. In a nutshell i had to wait another couple of hours to get intot the cafe on the boat. This was probably the nicest boat we have been on from Tangier Med or Algeciras so we were chuffed with that. It was an FRS one so if you get chance choose that one.

The crossing wasnt too bad and the drive to the Marina wasnt bad either. This is one of my favoiurite spots to park. I love Gibraltar as well i do. We went into a supermarket and bought the essentials: Watsits, salt and vinegar discos, Rowntrees Randoms, Sausage, Bacon and bread. Man it felt good to be back. We went to our usual haunt as well the Ivy SPorts Bar and had some proper food. As id had a few pints and then a load of food i was absolutely knackered by the time i had finished so walked hom and was fast asleep by 9pm. I love Gibraltar.
