Diary Entry – 01 January 2024

Happy New Year Everyone!! I hope you all had an amazing festive season and are looking forward to the year ahead! We certainly are! Although we don’t have a lot planned really apart from knowing that from April, May, June, July and possibly some or all of August will be spent back in the UK. I have committed to working the summer at A and E. To be honest I’m really looking forward to that. That place feels a bit like my extended family and it almost forms part of our annual schedule now to go and do stuff there with them. I suppose I’m extremely lucky as well in the sense that i get to work the shows and they never feel like work. Well, i take that back they do feel like work on your feet and muscles but not psychologically.

Our Moroccan Visa can run until end of April but not sure we will last that long as i don’t want to rush back. I’m not for rushing anymore, none of this Birmingham to Morocco in 96 hours hours again! So thinking 3 weeks to get back up to Tangier Med and i want a couple of nights in the marina by Gibraltar but in the comfort of the Motorhome and hopefully with a harbour view. Then 2 or 3 weeks up through Spain and 3 days through France. Well San Sebastian to La Rochelle and have a few nights there and then onto to St Malo. I cannot cope with the Santander crossing again so it will be St Malo to Portsmouth for me as you don’t need a cabin because it is a day time crossing and then do a Newhaven Dieppe crossing back into France. I wont do Calais again because the M25 ruins my experience of being back in the UK as you go from never being in a traffic jam in Europe to being in one straight away in the UK at Dartford or whatever and i don’t need that kind of negativity in my life.

We are going to try and lose a stone each in January, i know i keep going on about it but i am definitely going to do it this year. So this morning we started off with a pre 9am 5km walk along the sea front. Although in theory it was probably close to 6 as we had to walk round to Coronation street to get the stuff that was left over. We left one of our chairs there, fridge and the Jackery to power said fridge. To be fair that was always one of the reasons i wanted a Jackery was so i could plug it into a mini fridge like that and drink beer from the fridge. I have seen videos where people have a slow cooker plugged into a Jackery with the solar power generating more power than the solar panel uses. Well, that was me, in Morocco, with beer.
