Welcome to todays diary entry! Today was such a surreal day to be honest and a difficult one but a nice one in equal measures. It was the funeral of my aunty and funerals are not very good. Especially as i have not been to many with the exception of my Nan, Grandad and Step Dad this was only my 4th one. One thing though i have never seen so many people at a funeral and never seen so many people at a wake either. There were people standing at the back during the service and the wake was the same.
Which i suppose is a pretty good indication of what you are like as a person if it is full. Knowing my luck mine would be empty, just a few pigeons etc. I found it difficult being in there because you do find yourself wondering about yourself and your own funeral and nothing brings you closer to your own mortality than death. Also, that and with my Mum not being very well and knowing that one day i will be there at hers which was the hardest part of the day for me.

Once the really difficult part was out of the way we went back to the local cricket club and had some drinks. It was the first time that me, my brother and Dad have all been out together in absolutely ages and we are a bit full on when we are together and it is just unfortunate that it only came about from someone’s funeral and i do feel that as a larger family we need to at least and get together once a year and have a good knees up and a good time. One thing that this day has taught me is that time goes so fast and that is no more apparent than someone acquiring a 25 month old child.
We ended up making a way to another pub, then another and then getting a taxi back to my sisters house where we had a Chinese take away. To be honest i have a pretty vague memory of being there and i think that probably the Chinese would have been wasted on me. I did find myself wondering why i had chosen to have a few drinks on a Monday night, probably the joint worst night to ever have a drink on. Lisa drove us back and we couldn’t get set up properly because it was big service day tomorrow so hopefully get that done with few issues and then we are absolutely on the home straight with getting off for winter.
