Diary Entry – 03rd July 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! In what seemed like ages ago when we returned back from Morocco/ Europe this was something that seemed so far in the future and then just like that Camper Jam ’24 is upon and i have to say this is one of my favorites. My initial plan had started well and i was off the car park for A and E Leisure for just after 07:30 so i was pretty chuffed about that and for the whole drive there all i could think about was what if i have forgotten something, what if i have forgotten something important.

To watch the video our our set up at Camper Jam you can watch that here

Unlike last year when they let traders through a bit early they didn’t do that this time so we got there for 09:20 but they wouldn’t let us through until gone 10:00. Even worse than that there was a lorry arrived at 09:40 and even then they still wouldn’t let us through, my main concern at that was what if this guy drops his pallets at the front gate and there was 10 pallets in total so we couldn’t risk that. He fortunately was prepared to wait a further 30 minutes for us to get to our pitch.

Another kick in the proverbial nuts was the spot where we usually park behind the stand was cordoned off and despite threatening it for the last few years they finally fenced it off and wouldn’t let us park there so we had to try and squeeze our vehicles onto our pitch. By the time we had got parked up and got the lorry emptied onto our pitch it was about 11 o’clock and then before i could even get back into my motorhome to get a cup of tea before every other person turned up so my original plan of getting there early and having a sleep ended up in smoke!

We split into 2 teams and Benn focused on the shop and we concentrated on trying to get the awnings up and ready to go. I sort of took control over my side and the process for taking the pallets apart, trying to find everything in the van and getting to the right place. The whole time stressing thinking if id forgotten something really important fortunately as the day wore on i started to settle down as no one was coming to me and asking “where the hell is the xxxx”. The highlight for me was the Dodge saying that is was the best prep and running of a set up day we had ever had. I did ask as well if i could take some of the credit and he actually i could take a large amount of credit for it. Which got me right in the feels!
