Welcome to todays diary entry! Wow, what a month March has turned into. It’s honestly been one of the busiest, most rewarding months I can remember in a long time. That stretch target Roger and I set at the very beginning of the month? We hit it before the final day even rolled around—which was a bit surreal, to be honest.

Month-end can often feel a bit manic, but this time we were actually in front of things, which made today a little more bearable than most month-end scrambles. There’s something incredibly satisfying about hitting a big goal with a bit of breathing room—it gives you that rare moment to reflect before the next wave hits.

That said, we still had to keep our heads screwed on because all remaining orders up until midnight had to be processed through the old system to make sure everything was squared away cleanly. There’s always a bit of pressure with a system switchover, and although everything seemed to be ticking along okay, there’s always that worry in the back of your mind that something will go wrong.

From tomorrow, we’re officially transitioning to the new system, which adds another layer of pressure to everything we’ve had going on. But there’s a sense of excitement about it too. It’s a big change, but hopefully one that streamlines things and sets us up for the future. It’s been months in the making and something that will hopefully make the day-to-day smoother once we’re fully into it.

We made it up to Blakemere this evening and got our pitch set up, which already feels like a big weight off the shoulders. It’s one of those mental boxes you tick that suddenly makes everything feel a bit more real. Getting there and seeing it all laid out in front of us made the scale of the task ahead feel tangible, but also achievable.

To mark the occasion, I treated myself to a new BBQ. We’d given our old one to Amanda and Feegs along with an Outdoor Revolution table before we left Morocco, so I’d been eyeing up a replacement for a while. As soon as I saw the new Cadac model that was coming out last year, I knew it was the one I wanted. So giving the old one away didn’t feel like a loss—especially knowing it went to good people.

There’s something quite symbolic about that new BBQ—like a new chapter starting. I’ve been dreaming about firing it up at the end of a long day at the show, cooking a few bits while everyone winds down. It’s the little things that help keep the momentum and morale going in busy periods.

Tomorrow I’ve got the whole team off so they can recharge a bit before getting stuck into the Blakemere prep on Wednesday and Thursday. I want everyone firing on all cylinders by the time the show kicks off, and I think this approach will give us the best chance of that. It’s a big push ahead, and the last thing I want is for anyone to burn out before we even open the gates. I still can’t quite believe how close we are now. It’s gone from being this big, looming plan to something that’s suddenly just around the corner.

The weather is looking brilliant, which is usually the biggest unknown when it comes to events like this. In a weird way, though, sometimes when it’s too hot, that can be just as tricky as bad weather. Heat can slow people down, tire them out, and even keep them from turning up altogether—but we’ll just have to see how it plays out. Right now, we’re just hoping for calm, dry, and a bit of sunshine. Just enough to make it enjoyable without people melting under their awnings.

The only slight niggle is that we haven’t even started picking the stock yet. That’s definitely looming in the back of my mind. Between loading the van, collecting bits from other suppliers, and finalising the display setups, the to-do list is getting longer by the hour. It’s all manageable, but the clock is ticking and I’m very aware of how much still needs to fall into place. I’ve already got lists everywhere—in my notes, on my phone, on bits of paper scattered across the dashboard. But that’s show life, isn’t it?

It’s exciting, it’s stressful, it’s a bit chaotic—but that’s the magic of this time of year. Let’s hope April starts off just as strong as March has ended—and that all the effort we’ve put in shows in the results.
