Diary Entry – 30th August 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Well that is as much show prep as we can do tonight but the good news is that we have an extra 9 awnings up outside. When i said to people i want 9 odd awnings up outside they sort of sneered and sniggered because it has never been done before but the plan was to try and keep it simple and only peg out the 4 corners and use roof raiser poles to try and keep them looking crisp. There were 3 of us that stayed behind and we managed to get them all up.

The show set up!

We were expecting a huge delivery in Darwen this afternoon so the Dodge was going to go up there and see that delivery in and then come back down to us but that was an absolute catastrophe because despite asking for it to be delivered in the morning it was not due to land until 2 or 3pm in the afternoon but then the M6 which can be a cruel unforgiving mistress ended up getting shut both ways as there had been an accident. So they ended up getting diverted here instead of Darwen. Normally wouldn’t mind but i was about to start putting some awnings up for the show, i had the warehouse guy half way to Darwen to help the Dodge pack the delivery away.

So in the end we had no Dodge at all for the set up which to be fair will hopefully be reassuring to him again that he can release some pressure off himself and focus on doing other stuff and not worrying about it. Obviously if he asked me i would be saying “It wasn’t the same without you” and “it would have looked better if you would have been here” but we managed fine and hopefully he got back home at a reasonable time and got to spend some time with the girls. I am hoping that me being here has been a breather for him and he hasn’t felt the need to be so hands on with the shop but i understand how difficult that is for him to let go.

But here we are at 8pm at night with loads of ex demo awnings up on the forecourt and all of them listed on the website as well so everyone can see them. We are hoping to book the ferry this weekend and get that penciled into the diary. I just cannot believe how quick it is going and how quickly it is coming around. It has literally flown in and before you know it i will be waving ourselves off again and making our way, like the sparrows about 2500 miles south of here and basking in the Morocco sun (hopefully). Knowing my luck it will be the wettest winter in the history of Agadir.
