Welcome to todays diary entry! Back to work today after my very glamorous, very productive day off (which mostly involved sitting still and writing furiously). And as expected, the whirlwind picked up right where it left off.
There’s a strange kind of inertia that comes after taking just one day off. Your body gets a taste of rest – a little too much comfort – and then suddenly, asking it to wake up, get dressed, and re-engage with responsibility feels like an outrage. I shuffled into the day like a teenager being dragged to double maths.

But once I got going, it wasn’t too bad. Actually, it was one of those days where I didn’t stop – and therefore didn’t think too much about how tired I still was. Phone calls, messages, stock checks, questions, decisions – all firing at once. And somewhere in the middle of it all, Rory managed to create a small-scale toddler apocalypse in the motorhome involving crayons, half a banana, and the one clean surface I’d planned to keep clean for just one day. I swear he waits for me to wipe something down just to make it interesting again.
The weather was non-committal today – that awkward grey sky that looks like it might do something but never quite follows through. Not sunny, not rainy, just meh. It mirrored my mood a bit if I’m honest – not bad, just… fine. Ticking boxes, powering through, eyes half on the next few days.

Because – let’s be real – the only thing anyone in this household is focused on now is the holiday. Just two more working days to go. TWO. The countdown is loud and proud. I keep finding myself glancing at the calendar like it might move us along quicker. The to-do list before we go is still longer than I’d like it to be, but we’re edging closer to the finish line.
There’s something so satisfying about knowing a break is just around the corner. It changes how I approach everything. Even the annoying bits feel more manageable when you know you’re on borrowed time. That whole “just get through this” energy is in full force, and I can almost hear the sound of the sea in my head already – or maybe that’s just the fan in the back of the shop.
Oh, and I managed to write another diary entry today, which feels like a win. Slowly chipping away at the backlog. I don’t know if I’ll get it fully cleared by Cofton, but I’m going to try. One page at a time.
So, all in all – a solid, unremarkable, but necessary day. And right now, those feel just as important as the big ones. Especially when they get you one step closer to sunshine, swims, and switching off.
