After a lovely couple of days it was decided that we were to move on, we needed to do a wash ASAP. There is a song from a band called ‘The View’ and it was called “Same Jeans”. The lyrics essentially start like this “iv had the same jeans on for 4 days now” and it was similar between me and this hoody. I mean, it is my favourite hoody and it is one of ours available in a range of colours 😉 😉 🙂 SO we did a slow pack up in between taking turns to push him in his push chair. His sleeping is dreadful at the moment and he is waking up again in the night. That was his thing, was that he was sleeping through!! We think it is because of his teething but also it is nearly time to start weaning. The drive was only 2 hours but once again was some pretty spectacular scenery. I have to say Portugal has the best roads so far, the worse drivers but best roads. France was excellent for fuel economy Spain and Portugal because it so hilly isn’t very good. This was one of the rare times we go there on time, with no hiccups because of traffic or roads and also without Rory crying as we arrive so it was by far the most stress free arrival so far.
The drive to this site by the way had us over 1000 metres up, that is higher than Snowdon. Wild! We are on this site for 4 nights now, gives us chance to regroup get the camper cleaned out properly, sort the tins of food out, i packed a load of tins of food but have not even opened that container yet so i am either going to eat them here or bin them. No point leaving them in there for a rainy day. The site we are on is just south of Porto so really getting down to the southern parts now. Our next stop is Nazare and i am really excited about that, when i started planning this trip that was one place i had earmarked for a visit. Literally just to see some big waves.
This site is a a CAMC site site so it will be interesting to see how it differs in experience to the previous one in Sopena. I am not sure what they really have o do with the CAMC as we showed him our cards and we didn’t get a discount but this site was on the CAMC map. It seems nice enough but something i have noticed is that in some places they have no toilet seat, that is a thing in Europe in some places but also, they have the toilet paper outside of the cubicle so you have to guess how much you will need. I find that very very odd. Very odd indeed. When we arrived we had camp set up all ready, bed down, everything before 5pm and it was still light which was a first for us normally its dark and cold. This made a pleasant change. We went for an amazing meal, everything is so cheap over here it has been brilliant, i had pizza and Lisa had steak, 2 desserts, bread starter, 4 glasses of beer, 2 mojitos and it came to about £50. Lisa steak was massive as well, there was no 5oz nonsense it was a slab of meat. Very well cooked. Very nice. I have really enjoyed every meal since we have been here.
Sounds absolutely awesome. Love finding out what’s available on the camp sites, I myself have a habit of taking my own loo roll. Nothing worse than being caught short or if there’s no additional roll.
That steak sounds devine, not badly priced with your drink intake too. Enjoy.
It’s just strange trying to forecast how much you will need… x
