Welcome to todays diary entry! One thing that never ceases to amaze me, and it is something which is definitely getting worse as we now enter our 3rd year with this Facebook page and with Only Vans to an extent with the Beef and being full time. Is The rise of the Keyboard Warrior. Sounds a little bit like a Star Wars film. It is a concept that i have spoken at almost great lengths about now over the months and how it seems just such an alien concept to me and i would love to get into the mind of some of these people and be able to try and understand what it is all about. I have had some absolute belters over the last couple of days and weeks that really confuse me. Like i say i simply just don’t understand it.

My favourite one that i have seen over the last couple of days is based on a post that we shared and as far as post go it was very very popular. It was in the Vanlife – UK and we simply put “Who said you cannot cook Christmas dinner in a motorhome?”. Firstly, it is a term of phrase but some people took it far too literally with things such as “Says who?”, “Who says you cant?” there was a few of these and my favourite was “It is easier to cook Christmas dinner when you are not in the UK?”. We all know that this is utter nonsense, the country you are in has no relevance to how easy or difficult it is too cook a dinner. If anything cooking it in the UK is easier because access to everything you need is considerably easier.

Then a bit further down some one “i couldn’t because i don’t have all the stuff in my van”. I copied this post and showed to a couple of the people who were giving us a hard time. Then refused to accept it. The best one was from a woman who said i should not be allowed to post in the Vanlife – UK group because the picture was taken abroad? That it is a Uk group for UK people i went to explain that i am from the UK and live in the UK, registered and on the electoral roll etc in the UK. She refused to accept that and simply said that it is a UK group. One of the more peculiar things i have ever heard. I think a lot of it stems fro people being bored but what stops people either A. saying nothing and scrolling through or saying something like B. Looks nice that, not as easy in a motorhome top effort. C. I could, but i don’t person x, y or z could blah blah. It is always so passive aggressive. It turns out that the one person who gave me the hardest doesn’t even have a van so for to be fair he couldn’t cook a Christmas dinner in a van. So it all seems so mad to me that people entrench there position so much
We have had it on YouTube before and i find it easier to call them out, i set up a zoom and invited them along to it and safe to say 3 out of the 4 didn’t turn up. The one guy i did speak to in the end now follows us on FB and comments on stuff. The thing that rattles me the most is that people sit behind that screen and say what they like without any repercussions and they would never have the back bone or the spine to stop you in the street and have that dialogue with you but they get kicks from doing behind a screen. Even worse than that normally when they get called out they get defensive and say you have the problem and it is not them. They are accountable for nothing offended by everything. I wouldn’t mind sitting down with these people and talking it through but they wouldn’t say it to you.
