Welcome to todays diary entry! Had one of those road trip days that it seems like an absolute eternity since we had last. We literally just got out of the motorhome and found something near by and just set off with the push chair not knowing really what we were going to see or do but all we knew was the final destination was the castle on the hill in Santander. I will go through that a little bit more later. We had dodged a bullet or 2 over the last couple of days because the weather report was saying that it was going to be pants today and over the previous few days apart from Thursday which whilst we were sailing in was absolutely glorious! In fact at one point think Lisa even said it was too hot. It was a great chance to put our new turbo vent into action.
Today again seemed like it was going to be alright it always looked like it was capable of raining but always held back and whilst it wasn’t wildly warm it was mild and with a coat on i was still able to wear my shorts. We decided that instead of walking our usual way we were going to walk a different way but still in that sort of general direction. Normally we would walk through the tunnel towards the sea front but being a bit of a football fan i wanted to walk past the football stadium of Racing Santander and have a bit of a look through the turnstiles. I keep checking every place we go to try and find a football match that i can go to but i always end up missing them.

I love these old retro European football stadiums and this one is a belter as well. What surprised us the most was about a further 100 meters down the road out of no where another beach opened up and i can only imagine how popular this place and this park up must get in the summer. In the summer it would certainly be too hot for Lisa but never the less it was brilliant. We walked about a mile down the sea front as this was all leading us to the castle and in that general direction.
To be fair the castle was a raging disappointment as it wasn’t even really a castle just like a bit of a stately home. It was free to get in and they had pet seals which did a lot of redeeming for the places but overall it wasn’t a castle, no dungeon, no cannon. What it did provide though was a fantastic view out into the bay where the ships come in and out of the harbor at Santander. For those of you that have not been into Santander, words will not describe how cool it is and how close you are to the beach on the far side, despite it being our 3rd time now i still look out and get amazed that we don’t run aground.
