Welcome to todays diary entry! March is still proving to be an absolutely brilliant month, and if things keep going the way they are, it could easily end up being one of the best months we’ve had. March has always been a decent one for us, especially as people start getting excited about the new season, but I don’t think any of us quite expected such a strong start to the year.

There’s a real energy in the shop, a buzz about the upcoming shows, and customers seem genuinely engaged. It’s all just clicked. The displays are looking sharp, the new brands are settling in nicely, and the stock rotation has given the place a real fresh feel.

On a personal level, I’m still keeping up the running, and I have to say it’s been doing wonders for my headspace. It’s one of those things you always hear people banging on about—how good exercise is for your mental health—but it’s not until you’re actually in a rhythm with it that you really get it.

The endorphin release after a session is real. It helps me manage stress, sleep better, and think more clearly. According to studies, just 30 minutes of moderate exercise five times a week can significantly reduce symptoms of anxiety and depression. It even improves memory and boosts your mood long-term. But beyond all that science, it’s the structure that helps—setting small goals, sticking to them, and feeling that sense of accomplishment that carries into the rest of the day.

Yesterday I pushed myself harder than usual and managed to run a sub-30 minute 5K, which I was absolutely made up with. That was a big milestone for me. I’ve been slowly creeping the speed up over time, but this was a proper jump and I could tell. I was way more out of breath than I’m used to—absolutely gassed, to be honest—and as proud as I was to hit that mark.

I don’t think I’ll be chasing that pace again any time soon. It was more about proving to myself that I could do it. Now that box is ticked, I’m quite happy cruising along at a more comfortable 35-minute pace. It’s sustainable, it still gets the job done, and I actually enjoy the run instead of feeling like I’ve been hit by a train.

Worked in the shop again today. Saturdays seem to be a little quieter than Sundays lately, which is interesting. You’d normally expect a similar pace across both days, but there’s been a clear difference the past few weeks. Still, it was steady enough and gave me a bit of time to catch up on some of the smaller jobs that often get pushed aside when things are flat-out. I managed to get a few displays tweaked and even had time to chat properly with some of the customers—which makes a nice change from feeling like you’re always rushing to the next thing.

Overall, I’m feeling really good at the moment. The balance between work, exercise, and a bit of downtime is starting to settle in properly. The team’s gelling, the shop’s looking great, the show prep is moving along nicely—and I’ve got a bit of a spring in my step again. If the rest of the year carries on like this, we’re in for a really strong season.
