Diary Entry – 25th October 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! I would honestly go as far as to say that Santander is one of my favorite places and it is so much more than just a town with a port in it. I just wonder how many people just get on and get off and dent spend anytime here. That is why i think now every time we are due to get on or off the ferry i will always factor in a few days here and probably on this park up as well. Everything you need within a 20 minute walk of your motorhome. We made the mistake of when we walked to the sea front first time around was not knowing about the tunnel that cuts out the massive hills you need to climb to get over to that side.

There is loads and loads to do here, there is several lighthouses and castles. I honestly think you could probably spend at least 2 weeks here if you wanted to see everything but we never have that time available. The next thing for us is to head for Potes after we have been here. It is just whether we do some site seeing tomorrow and then head out tomorrow afternoon or if we move off first thing Sunday morning. From my understanding the weather is supposed to be rubbish pretty much everywhere for the next few days. Think the weather is only nice further south but i am not in a rush to dust off a load of mile yet and cut out most of northern Spain.

That is not saying though that in 4 days time if it has done nothing but rain i wont pull the plug and then just set the sat nav for Malaga and make our way down there as quick as we can. But from weather reports this area of Spain is in for some rain. Here, like in the UK we are not blessed qwith a vast array of winter clothing and i think i have 1 pair of jeans and 1 coat so if anything happens to them then i am pretty doomed. With all respect i cannot be wearing my Kaftan in Northern Spain in the rain.

For now we will stick to the plan and just stay here for another night or so then reevaluate once we have moved onto the next spot the beauty of motorhoming is that you have the absolute freedom to do something or nothing and it allows you to make decisions based on the weather. No plan survives first contact with the enemy and the rain in that instance is the enemy. SO you can have all the plans in the world but if it is going to rain where you are for the next 3 weeks you would be daft to not try and do something a bit different.
