Welcome to todays diary entry! He has returned! Our illustrious leader has returned! And true to his word he didn’t come back into the shop which must have pained him but he went and sat in accounts. I was up and in the shop at 6am this morning just getting the shop ready as he said he wouldn’t be in until later in the afternoon but i got a call about 07:30 saying he was 10 minutes so after a few choice words i just did the last few bits in the shop that i could then just relaxed.
In hindsight i probably put far too much pressure on myself trying to sort the shop but it was just wanting it to be right for when he got back and i did feel a bit sense of relief when he got back as it had felt like a bit of a noose around my neck but it was something that needed doing and he said he was happy with it so that was enough for me. I suppose something like the shop you probably never feel 100% happy with it as you always fid something and think right i am doing that next, then something else then something else again.

The good thing now that that is done, well obviously the maintaining part is always the most difficult part but at least now we can focus on really trying to drive sales because winter is coming and it becomes even more important to generate as much profit as you can to help see you though the winter months so switching focus and having the focus on the sales aspect of stuff will be really important. That is what my next focus will be on now with the shop guys which is just making sure that we are focused on sales. So if someone enquires we are ringing them and trying to help them in the best possible. Delivering a great Customer Experience, getting great Trust Pilot reviews is crucial because good reviews can be worth an extra 3 or 4 deals a week and i winter that can be a lot.
So switching focus now to profit and preparing for the show this weekend and then Busfest the weekend after that so despite the season drawing to a close we will work probably equally as hard in the winter months if not harder than we do in the summer months. It is a mind set thing in the winter because some of the time you are working harder but for much less results. So keeping your head up and positive is the key in winter. But that is not just a retail person challenge, i will feel, no doubt the Dodge will. Which is why i keep trying to talk him into a short break in Agadir in the winter. Keep him out of the shop.
