Welcome to todays diary entry! Waking up back in the motorhome this morning felt brilliant. After nine nights in a hotel, it’s good to be home, back in familiar surroundings, back in our own space. No more worrying about hotel air-con drying my throat out at night, no more pacing around a small room in the early hours trying not to wake Rory up—just the usual comforts of our home on wheels. Everything feels more relaxed, even if the schedule ahead is anything but.
That being said, the exhaustion has properly set in now. It’s been an intense week, and normally, I’d love nothing more than to take a day to recover. But there’s absolutely no chance of that happening. Straight back into it today, no time to even pause, because we’ve got a new starter in the shop and a full day ahead. It’s a bit surreal—one minute, I’m at the NEC surrounded by thousands of people, the next, I’m back in the shop explaining the ropes to someone brand new. There’s no slow transition; it’s just straight back into the deep end.

Not only that, but we’ve got the in-store show coming up this weekend, which means the entire showroom needs to be reorganised. And when I say reorganised, I don’t mean moving a few things around—I mean almost completely changing the entire layout. Stock needs to be shifted, displays need to be set up, and everything needs to be ready in time. It’s going to be a full-on job, and after the last week, it feels like we’re diving straight from one major event into another without even catching our breath.

We said after last year that we weren’t going to double up on shows again, that we’d space things out better, give ourselves time between big events. Yet here we are, barely 12 hours out of the NEC, and already back in the thick of it before the season has even started. It’s just the way it is sometimes—things pile up, opportunities come along, and before you know it, you’re right back in the deep end.
And if that wasn’t enough, today is also the worst part of any show—the admin. Sorting through order forms, double-checking paperwork, ordering stock, making sure every sale is logged correctly. It’s a nightmare at the best of times, but it’s even worse for me because, having sold the most by quite some way, I now have to deal with 90% of the show’s admin. That means hours of going through documents, making sure everything tallies up, chasing up anything that’s missing, and dealing with suppliers to ensure everything is ordered correctly. It’s the least glamorous part of the job, but arguably one of the most important.
The stress levels are high today, and the reality of how much is left to do is hitting hard. But that’s just how it goes in this industry—you don’t get to sit back and admire your work for too long before the next challenge comes flying at you. Right now, all I can do is keep my head down, power through, and get everything sorted. Rest will have to wait—there’s too much to do!
