Welcome to todays diary entry! Rory had another day at nursery today, and honestly, I think he might love it more than we even hoped for. As soon as we pulled up, he was out of his seat, eager to get inside. No clinging, no tears—just a big grin and a little wave before he disappeared through the door. It’s lovely to see him so happy and confident, but I’d be lying if I said it didn’t tug at the heartstrings. There’s this strange little sadness that creeps in when you realise they need you less and less. Watching him grow and become more independent is a joy—but it’s also a constant reminder of how fast time is moving. Sometimes I wish I could just freeze-frame these moments. Keep him this small and safe forever.

With things calming down a bit, I gave myself another well-earned day off today. It’s the first proper breather I’ve had since everything with the show, the new system, and the general whirlwind that April has been. I’ve said this before, but I really want to start building some proper rest into my weeks. A couple of days off here and there to reset my brain and not feel like I’m constantly sprinting uphill. Of course, I’m very aware that this is easier said than done—especially with the schedule we’ve got lined up.

May is going to be a beast. We’ve got back-to-back shows, which realistically means I’ll probably only get a handful of proper days off all month. It’ll be full-on, no doubt about it. But there’s something kind of reassuring about knowing that. At least I can plan for the chaos. It’s when it takes you by surprise that it’s toughest to handle.

We’ve also got a trip to Scotland coming up soon to see Lisa’s parents and hopefully her daughters too if timings line up. I’m genuinely looking forward to that. It’ll be good to change the scenery, catch up with everyone, and breathe in some of that Scottish air. There’s something about heading north that helps reset your soul a bit. Plus, it gives us a chance to switch off from the daily madness and just be for a few days.

All in all, today was one of those rare quiet days that helps you recharge not just physically, but mentally too. And I’m realising more and more that those are the ones you need to protect the most.
