Diary Entry – 23rd Janaury 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

These last few days we have been absolutely blessed to be able to share some decent time with some people that we met whilst we were in Morocco earlier on this year. Mal and Alan, so as they were due to leave on Thursday we decided it would be nice for us to cook for them. They were so kind as to bring me bacon and some beans but as i don’t like beans and the bacon was long long long gone i decided that the best thing to cook them whilst in Morocco in fitting with the culture was chips, beans and sausage. Which actually they seemed to be chuffed with, they were having a 5* meal at La Plancha this time yesterday so only fair we give them 5* again.

We had an early morning walk again and for 2 days on the bounce we seen Dazzler and Michelle, they are shaming me by running everyday so i am determined to get to 5k running imminently i just need it to get a bit lighter a bit earlier so i am not leaving Mum with the Beef all morning. After our usual sea front walk we nipped to the pork shop and went to get the sausages for tonight. So we bought sausages and something else amazing as well a couple of pre cooked slices of Lasagne. Bearing in mind i couldn’t tell you the last time i had some lasagne so we will have that for dinner tonight and chips and sausages for tea.

After they left Morocco last year they continued on there trip and they did something a bit similar to what we are planning but they did the full thing where as we will only do 3 or 4 weeks in those countries. They were travelling for 2 years full time which in itself is a great achievement even more so when you think that Mal had never even camped prior to getting the motorhome. The reason why they didn’t come back was just need some stability back in the motherland but as soon as Mal was on this campsite you could see she had that twinkle in her eye. Alan would be here now if it was up to him so credit to him for putting Mal first.

They only flew out for a week so on Thursday they will be back on there way home and i cannot imagine how extreme the the change in the weather must be from coming from here in 25+ degree sun to being back in the UK that seems to be having named storms on almost weekly basis. Whereas at least when we are on our way back we will slowly get colder by travelling up through Spain etc. Even Spain can be cold in May, when we were in Salamanca (yes we stayed on Camping Don Quiote) it was like 2 or 3 degrees in the morning, it was an absolutely unbelievable culture shock for us. We had no idea it was going to be that cold and had all the vents open on the pop top at the time. Poor old Beef must have wondered what was going on coming from Morocco to cold Salamanca. I do wonder how he will get on in the cold UK winters.
