Welcome to todays diary entry! And just like that, the Motorhome and Caravan Show is over for another eight months. Feels like it only just started, and now we’re packing down, dismantling stands, and saying our goodbyes until October. It’s always a strange feeling when a show ends—one minute, you’re running on adrenaline, barely stopping to catch your breath, and the next, everything is being taken apart, the crowds have gone, and the halls are eerily quiet.
But before we can even think about heading home, there’s still work to do. The show might officially close its doors to visitors at 5 PM, but for us, that’s when the real graft begins. Packing down the stand is a job in itself—taking down displays, packing up stock, making sure everything is accounted for, and loading it all back into the van. After a full week on our feet, this last push feels like the hardest part, especially when you just want to sit down and let the exhaustion hit you. It takes a couple of hours to get everything sorted, and by the time we’re finally done, the halls feel like a ghost town—just forklifts whizzing around, crews dismantling stands, and the echoes of what was a buzzing exhibition space only hours before.

They’ve already released the dates for October’s show, which means I can start looking at ferry options now from Plymouth. The plan is to head straight down to Morocco once the show is wrapped up, which makes the next few months even more intense. It’ll be great to know that after a long season, we’ll have the chance to set up camp, properly relax, and enjoy a few weeks of guaranteed sunshine. The idea of sitting outside in a t-shirt in November, rather than battling the cold and rain, is definitely something to look forward to. Right now, based on how exhausted I feel, that post-season wind-down in Morocco feels like a long way off, but knowing it’s coming will help get through the busy summer ahead.

As for the show itself, I think there may only be a matter of pounds in it when it comes to who won between me and Roger for the best show in A and E Leisure history. It’s been a close-run thing, and while I’d love to take the title, the monetary value is secondary for me. What really matters is knowing that I didn’t let anyone down. More than anything, I just wanted to feel like I’d done the best I could and made the people around me proud. Roger, Nath, Lisa—everyone who has backed me, helped me, and supported me through this has played a part in what I’ve achieved, and that’s what counts.
By the time we finally left the NEC, the exhaustion really started to settle in. The drive home was just under two hours, and after a week of early starts, late finishes, and non-stop conversations, those motorway miles felt longer than ever. It’s that classic feeling after a big event—physically drained but mentally still processing everything that’s just happened. The adrenaline might have worn off, but the sense of accomplishment is still there, making the tiredness feel like a badge of honour.
There’s always a moment at the end of a show like this when you finally stop, take a breath, and it all sinks in. The long days, the miles walked around the NEC, the endless conversations—it’s all been worth it. Now, the focus shifts to what’s next, but first, a little bit of rest wouldn’t go amiss!
