Welcome to todays diary entry! Setting Up in the Sunshine, Selling in Style. Today was what I can only describe as a show setup masterclass—stress-free, smooth, and soaked in sunshine. It’s rare you get all three at once. Because the marquees were already up when we arrived yesterday, there was none of the usual faffing about with poles, sidewalls, or adjusting pegs. All we had to do was focus on what we do best—creating an eye-catching, well-organised demo space that makes people want to stop, chat, and (hopefully) spend.
There’s a certain satisfaction that comes with setting out a stand when the conditions are just right. The heat today was full-on, but it was the kind that energises you. No soggy socks, no wind-blown leaflets—just that hum of excitement as you get everything into place and start to visualise how the weekend might unfold.

Ellie was an absolute star helping get the displays right while The Dodge was off fulfilling parental duties at a school sports day (fair play). I took charge of the Brunner awning setup—two premium drive-away models that deserved to be shown off. Honestly, they’re like the Rolls Royce of awnings. High-spec materials, clever design, and a real sense of luxury… but with that comes the challenge: they’re not cheap. Not even close.
And that’s where the drive-away market gets tricky. The industry’s flooded with clearance models at the moment—last season’s stock going for a song—and while that’s great for bargain hunters, it means people’s expectations around price are skewed. Selling a premium awning takes more than just putting it up and slapping on a price tag. It takes storytelling. You’ve got to show people what makes it better—talk about the spec, the ease of use, the aftersales support. Make them see it as an investment, not a splurge. Later in the evening, we had a surprise treat: the on-site bar opened early. 8pm sharp, taps flowing, spirits high. That’s a first for me—usually you’re scrabbling around for a cup of tea or a lukewarm can the night before—but not here. It really set a relaxed tone across the site. There’s something about a pre-show pint that brings people together. Traders chatting, families settling in, a buzz in the air without the pressure of trading yet. Loved it.
So far, Club Fest is ticking all the right boxes. Easy setup, a beautiful venue, and the kind of weather you dream of for these events. The Brunner awnings are up, the stock is prepped, and the team’s in great spirits. It’s shaping up to be a strong few days—now let’s see what tomorrow brings.

The days are flying by and we’re just 11 days from heading off to Cofton now. It’s starting to feel real. The camper’s already half-packed in my mind. The sea breeze, the wooded walks, the slower pace—it’s calling.
Knowing that after Club Fest we’ll get a proper break makes the long hours and heavy lifting feel that little bit easier. Cofton is the carrot on the stick. It’s not just another getaway—it’s the reward at the end of an incredibly hectic few months. The thought of setting up camp near the coast, letting Rory run wild, and catching up on rest feels like a dream. This show season has already tested us in all the right ways—but Cofton is going to be where we exhale.
