Welcome to todays diary entry! And just like that our Scottish adventure came to a head with a bang, literally and metaphorically. We have had an absolute nightmare getting back! We had a great night sleep in the middle of no where a bit south of Glencoe and it was proper proper wilderness, granted there were another 2 or 3 motorhomes next to us but i don’t mind that if anything i always feel a little bit safer if there a couple of vans in the area. We woke up and had some breakfast and a brew and then got packed up ready to roll for about 10:15 we had a 2 hour drive to get to Kirky where Lisa’s family are from.
It is was whilst making this little stint of our way home that we encountered our first problem and as far as problems go it was quite a biggy. There is about a 10 mile stretch at the top end of Loch Lomond which is very tight, especially for motorhomes with the sticky out wing mirrors like ours. We were driving and i even said to Lisa i hate this stretch of road. It is very tight and about 6 or 7 miles on our way through this pass all of a sudden there was a massive bang and someone had hit our wing mirror and literally smashed it into pieces.

To be fair it properly shook me up and Lisa to be fair. The Beef was unfazed and almost unaware as he was engrossed in watching Chu Chu Wa on his iPad so he wasn’t faxed but it really shook me up and looking at it we were lucky that it didn’t go through the window really. So we had to get through that stretch to then try and pull over to see how on earth we go about trying to get it so that it wasn’t just dangling by the side of the motorhome. So i pulled out the trust gorilla tape and used that. But the visibility was about 15% so it was on my mind.
Anyway we made it Kirky and seen family we hadn’t seen in 12 month which was really nice and i had my usual square sausage sandwich. After we left there the sat nav said 3 hours and 45 minutes which was fair enough be home for 7pm and then get settled. As we were driving down Scotland we got a notification on my sat nav that there had been an accident and it basically took our 4 hour drive in a 7 hour drive. Motorway shut, carnage in Lancaster, so we pulled into a service station to let it clear. We spent an hour there and the motorway was shut and the arrival time was after 9pm so we decided to find a pub stop over and stay somewhere else as i didn’t want to get home that late.
In the end we found a pub and had some tea and just as we were about to go to bed about 9pm i checked my sat nav and it said that the motorway was back open now so we decided to get back in the van and head off. Think by the time we had got back here the time was nearly 11pm. So a 4 hour trip took 9 hours.
Although, at least we all got home safe which is always the main and i hope that all members of the crash are ok.
