Welcome to todays diary entry! Another half day today, wrapping up what’s been a much-needed Easter break. It’s been one of those slower-paced weekends where everything just breathes a bit easier. The shop’s been fairly quiet—not surprising really, with the sunshine blazing and most people making the most of the long weekend. If I wasn’t working, I’d be out in it too, soaking up every second. You can’t fault people for making a dash for it when the weather’s like this.
The footfall might have been light, but I’ve used the time well—reorganising a few bits, catching up on admin, and actually having a proper natter with customers without the usual rush. There’s something really enjoyable about being able to slow down and talk properly, especially when it’s not wall-to-wall chaos. Sometimes the quiet days are exactly what you need to recalibrate.

And I’ll be honest—I’m feeling nearly fully recharged now. That little run of time off last week did more for me than I can explain. Mentally, emotionally, physically—I’ve been running on fumes for most of April, but this past week has flipped the switch. I’m coming out the other side with clearer thoughts, a bit more spark, and a hell of a lot more patience. I feel like I’ve got both hands back on the wheel now, ready to steer us through the rest of the month.
April has still been a strong one for the shop, all things considered. The new system hasn’t been easy—it’s tested every one of us at some point—but we’ve held our own. In fact, I think we’ve done better than we give ourselves credit for. Shows, shop layout changes, staffing, training, weather swings… we’ve navigated the lot and still come out with good numbers. That says something.

Now the eyes are slowly turning to May. Usually, it brings a bit of a breather. It’s a funny month—there are a couple of bank holidays that keep things ticking over, but the mad rush from Easter tends to soften slightly. It gives us space to prep properly for the summer push, take stock, reset systems, and focus on the customer experience.
And speaking of something to look forward to—we’ve just booked a full week away at Cofton in early June and I am buzzing. Like, proper buzzing. It’ll be our first proper week off in a long time, and we’ll be visiting Mandy and Feegs too—our mates from Morocco. We haven’t seen them since we left Agadir, and it’s going to be brilliant to catch up, swap stories, have a drink or three, and just relax in good company.
There’s something about having something locked in that lifts your spirits. You don’t realise how much you need a break until you give yourself permission to take one. And now, with Cofton booked, it gives us all a bit of a milestone to work towards. Something to aim for. Something to earn.
So yeah—Easter weekend’s nearly wrapped, but I’m going into the rest of the week with a spring in my step. The sun’s out, the team’s holding strong, and the future’s looking brighter.
Onwards we go.
