Diary Entry – 20th January 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Did a bit of extra time this morning at work for some extra fun coupons.. Even in Morocco January is a long month and one which we are looking forward to payday. I was only supposed to be working from 8 until 12 but that ended up turning into an 8 2 because i was having some technical issues so wasted about 2 hours trying to get them fixed but i managed to get all of my work done and get off by 2pm. Stoke WERE on a good run of form and they were playing at home so i was actually annoyingly playing at home. So you will know how it goes now, Stoke playing at home, on a good run of form, playing against someone we should absolutely beat. We lost so that put me in a bit of a bad mood for the rest of the day in only a way that football can.

In the excitement of meeting new pals i forgot to mention another visitor that we had yesterday. So if you can imagine what it is like at home and when someone knocks on the door that you were not expecting it startles you a bit but yesterday i was working at the front and Mum was at the back on the bed and all of a sudden there was an almighty knock at the door it nearly took the bloody door off and we thought “who the bloody hell could this be?” The people at the door were absolutely the last people we expected to see here and at our door. It was Mal and Alan who were here last year. They have not come back out this year but they got a flight and came and stayed in a hotel for a week but they came to visit. What an amazing surprise.

Mal and Alan were our inspiration really for what we have done this year as they sat on this site for probably 5 or so months and that got us thinking and talking about whether we could do it but from going from a seasonal pitch in Northwich to having a mini seasonal pitch in Morocco for the winter. We have said that we will cook for them on Tuesday as they are away again on Thursday but it will be nice to see them off. They came to see us at the NEC as well which was extremely nice of them. I always remember the time they made a sunday roast earlier this year with Yorkshire puddings and home made gravy. It was one of those meals that you just dont forget.

After the Football we decided to go and have a walk to the Hyatt for some drinks and we asked the Rabbit and the Horse if they wanted to come as well. They will be sick of us soon that will be 3 nights on the bounce after tongith ha ha ha. Like i say it is nice to have some company and to have conversations with different people. They loved the Hyatt, and it is not really difficult to see why people do as it is so nice especially in an evening time with the fires lit and all the lanterns lit as well. It is stunning, as is the cost of beer unfortunately but that is just one of the sacrifices you have to make.
