Diary Entry – 20th August 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! This time last year we had the pleasure of being parked up in Luxembourg and it was criminally hot. There was a free park up with electricity and water and we had just started trying out our brand new air con and within about 3 minutes and about a week of being away was enough for us to know that i would never get a leisure vehicle again without air conditioning. It made that heat absolutely bearable and we spent and still do spend a lot of time inside looking out at the hot from the air conditioned motorhome. In the Sahara in March we had the air con blazing and Lisa certainly could not live without it.

This wild heat in Luxembourg City last year!

Luxembourg City was an interesting place to go to. I don’t know what i was expecting but it was about a 50 minute bus trip into the town and the incredible thing about Luxembourg city is that the public transport is free so the bus was free and a little tram a little further into town was also free. They also provide free Wi-Fi on the public transport as well. The buses were so clean you could have eaten jelly off the floor. Coming from Stoke and using First PMT which is pretty much where the plague started and the amount of germs on them things is outrageous.

Another alien concept to us in the UK was the fact that it was on time, every single leg of the journey was on time and it was nice being able to think “its x o’clock and the bus will be 3 minutes” rather than once again First PMT being late or just not turning up at all. Or driving past. Then the city itself was a bit weird it didn’t feel like the tax haven that i thought it would be and there were parts of it that were a bit seedy, although for the third time to bring Stoke On Trent into there are parts of Stoke that are pretty seedy.

The only reason we were there is to try and do some laundry and for a bit of a day out but one of the signs said it was 39 degrees and Lisa who is anti heat had about 3 heat tantrums in the space of 15 minutes so there was only one thing for it…. A beverage. One downside of the town was that it wasnt cheap by any stretch of the imagination. We spent £40 on McDonalds and it was about £8 a pint and for me that is just a bit too much and always prevents me from having a few.
