Welcome to todays diary entry! Another day off—and this one’s felt a bit surreal, to be honest. Not because of anything dramatic happening, but because it’s the fourth day in the last five that I’ve not been in the thick of it. That hasn’t happened in… I don’t even know how long. Probably not since before we boarded the ferry back from Spain.
It’s Easter Sunday today, and I’ve properly leaned into it. Slowed down, soaked up the sunshine, and just enjoyed being present. It’s been a lovely Easter this year—nothing too extravagant, but peaceful, calm, and topped off by the absolutely incredible weather. Feels like nature’s been having a word and decided to gift us some Portuguese sunshine early. Warm days, clear skies, fresh spring air… it makes everything feel a bit softer.

There’s been something really grounding about this little stretch of time off. I didn’t realise how tightly I was wound until I had a chance to stop and breathe properly. No background panic, no show setup pressure, no new system nightmares to wrestle with—just a bit of stillness. And it’s done me the world of good. I feel better in myself. Not just rested, but reset.
That said, I’ve got a 6-hour shift in the shop tomorrow for the bank holiday—which is fair enough. We’ve had a good run and I’m ready to ease back in. But the difference this time is that I’m not dreading it. I’m going back in with a bit more fire in the belly, a bit more drive. I’m not limping back in knackered and overwhelmed like I was three weeks ago. This time I’ve got a clearer head, a fresh mindset, and the belief that I’m back in the driver’s seat instead of hanging off the back of the bus.

It’s not just me either. The dust seems to be settling across the board now. There’s a calm creeping back into things that wasn’t there a couple of weeks ago. And when I heard that even Roger took a day or two off, that told me everything I needed to know. If he’s taking time, then things really must be coming back into balance.
The man’s like a machine—always on, always pushing—but even machines need a service. And seeing him hit pause, even briefly, probably did more good for everyone than he realises. If Roger can step back for a breather, it gives the rest of us permission to do the same without guilt.
So here we are. Easter Sunday. A roast on the table, a bit of sunshine coming through the windows, and the kind of peace that reminds you why you do all the hard graft in the first place. Not just for the results—but for moments like these. Quiet ones. Real ones. Home.
Tomorrow, we go again. But this time, with a bit more balance. A bit more perspective. And that little spark starting to flicker again.
Let’s keep that momentum going.
