Diary Entry – 19th May 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Today was another absolute scorcher and waking up in the morning the task at hand was staring us in the face. It is my least favourite day of any show but this one because i t was only me and the Dodge was going to be even worse than normal. We usual have 6 or 7 bodies helping us to pack away, granted the shows tend to be quite a bit larger but this was going to be an absolute grueller of a day. Another saving grace being that the Dodge didn’t live to far so we were not going to be emptying the van tonight back at base.

This time 12 months ago movning stuff around in the campervan to get the pop top up to get our heads down to sleep in France.

Secondly because of that fact, i had managed to negotiate myself a day off tomorrow which will be my first day of for over 2 weeks so i was desperately in need of it, i was definitely ready for it. To be honest i think the Dodge was ready for a slower day tomorrow as well. I just wasn’t thinking as quickly as i normally did and i was being a tiny bit grumpy because of feeling tired. The excitement of that day off was still too far away in the future though as we had this to get through and get down and into a van and no doubt the remains of what cannot fit in the van into my motorhome again.

That big flurry that came yesterday morning never really materialised again today although there were busy spells but not the same as yesterday which was a bit frustrating but just one of those things and nothing you can do about it. It was nice in between those busy spells to have a seat in the sun and just watch the show go by. I did see some things that i didn’t think i would ever see, as this was a regional meet for all of the clubs in the North West they all had there own flags and they all stood in one corner of the green and marched around it with there flags into the marquee. Felt a little bit like Game of Thrones.

We got some help in the packing down from Outdoor Revolution and i am glad we did because the heat again was exhausting. I think we packed down over a number of hours but by 3pm i was really starting to flag and just couldn’t see to muster up the energy to get going. I think we ended up being packed away by about 7pm ish and then with a 75 minute drive home and then unloading the rubbish form my motorhome i don’t think we got settled until around 21:30pm but after all that finally a day off and hopefully a lie in and hopefully some rest and recuperation.
