Diary Entry – 19th July 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! We have been travelling together now as a 3 for almost 18 months pretty much full time and today we got to see probably one of the more spectacular things that we have seen. To be fair this was one of the reason we came all this way. Let me start all the way at the beginning. I had porbably one of the best sleeps i have had in a long time and pretty much undisturbed and we were asleep from 10:30 and then woke up briefly at 6 but then slept back back in until 7am. That is more than enough for me.

Arisaig Pano

The Beef has started getting in with us at about 5am in the morning for a cuddle and that just seems to put him back to sleep again for a few hours so he got in with us at 6am and then slept until nearly 9am so he had nearly 12 hours as well. Lots of sleep + a happy Beef. Before he woke we sat at the front of the van looking out at the mountains and the start of the Ben Nevis trail behind us and even got to see some blue sky and some sun as well which is long long long overdue after the wash out yesterday. The one thing we wanted was for that to carry on so we could hopefully get to the beaches and have a bit of sun. Simply put, everything looks better in the sun.

It was only a bout an hours drive from Fort William to Arisaig and Mallaig and as we were travelling we were planning on stopping for the Harry Potter train but that car park was chocka so we decided to miss that and save that for another time. SO we ploughed onto Arisaig which is the first stop before Mallaig. After a bit of parking stress we managed ot find a spot to park and we got to see exactly what we came to see, these famous beaches. Mum and Beef absolutely loved it. The Beef is definitely a beach/ sea baby and he ran straight into the sea and just sat there fully clothed and played with the sand. They were both in there element.

It has taken almost 8 or 9 hours of driving to get here and within about a minute the look on Mums face and the Beef running on the beach made it all worth while 10 fold. We stayed here for about an hour but it was so windy so before the Beef could get hypothermia we took him in the motorhome and got him wrapped up. It was at this point we decided that we needed to empty the toilet and get rid of some rubbish. There is a place in Mallaig where you can pay money to empty your toilet so we went there. Even though we didn’t need we decided to treat ourselves to a night on a campsite nearby to the port ready for our boot to Skye tomorrow morning. Which unfortunately means an alarm for the first time in 2 day mornings.
