Diary Entry – 17th July 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! After 1 calendar month of work i have now finally finished for a mid month break and having 1 day off. I am not sure if i have mentioned that or not over the last few days but it is true. My last day off was the 23rd June and i am now about 230 miles away from Northwich! We are going to do a little trip for Lisa’s 21st (ish) birthday so we aimed to get above Glasgow and then get settled for the night. I managed to negotiate an early dart as i was supposed to finish at 5pm but i didn’t want to get stuck in traffic.

Traffic around these parts are absolutely awful, if you go south then you get stuck in the traffic anywhere from J19 to J15 which at times can be an absolute disgrace and then if you go north from here, and that is even if you get out of Northwich without getting stuck anywhere you get on the M56 and get on get on the M6 at J20 but then you have to travel through all the off the potential Manchester traffic and anywhere up there if you are unlucky can result in hours stuck in a jam so i was adamant i wasn’t going to get stuck in that.

I think in the end we were gone for about 14:15 with about 4 hours of driving to do but we then quickly realised that we would miss the Manchester traffic but then get caught in the Glasgow rush hour traffic so we decided to pull over at a service and has a stop for an hour. He had woken up from his nap and was due some food so i opted for a lie down on the back bed and managed to get 45 minutes under my belt. This was a really nice service station as it had a little lake by it and some ducks and geese so we spent a bit of time watching them.

We had timed this trip to absolute perfection and we missed all of the Glasgow traffic which on its day can be abysmal as well. Up there with one of the worst places to drive through so to not get caught in any of it was a delight. We arrived in Balloch about 19:30 and we had a walk around the Maid of the Loch which is an old run down steam ship which i believe they are trying to do up. Our park up was free but they ask you to make a contribution to the boat renovations so we donated £10. It was actually a really nice place to park up and we were up the corner. It was a really quiet evening and we slept really well.
