Welcome to todays diary entry! Last day of setup is finally complete, and the stand is looking brilliant. It’s mad to think that just on Saturday, this space was completely empty, and now, just a couple of days later, it’s packed with displays, banners, products, and lighting—ready to go. It always amazes me how quickly these shows transform from a blank canvas into a full-blown exhibition. Walking through the hall today, it’s hard to believe how chaotic it looked just a few days ago, with boxes everywhere and forklifts zipping about. Now, everything looks polished and professional, ready to welcome thousands of visitors.

I’ve pretty much lived off Subway for the last three days, having three 12-inch subs for my dinners in a row. Not my proudest achievement, but when you’re knee-deep in setup, you just grab whatever’s easy and keep moving. I swear I’m starting to feel like a Subway sandwich myself at this point! I keep telling myself I need to get to the gym, but between the full English breakfasts every morning and non-stop working at the NEC, that plan has been well and truly shelved. If I keep this up, I’m going to be rolling out of here by the end of the week.

Rory is still not well and had another awful night’s sleep. He’s restless, waking up constantly, and it’s just been impossible for anyone to get proper rest. We’re all running on fumes now, but I’m hoping that since tomorrow is the day before the show officially kicks off, we might get a bit of good luck and finally have a decent night’s sleep. Fingers crossed!

One of the small joys of being in a hotel for this long has been the unlimited hot water. When you’re used to van life and having to constantly think about water levels, being able to take a long, hot shower without worrying about running out is an absolute luxury. The hotel room itself has been really nice too—comfortable, clean, and a proper bit of space to relax in after long days. It’s one of those small things that you don’t really think about until you’ve spent months in a motorhome. Having a proper bed, a bathroom just a few steps away, and not worrying about power levels has been a refreshing change, even though I do miss the freedom of the van.

Now, with setup behind us, all that’s left is the final prep for the big opening day on Tuesday. Tomorrow will hopefully be a bit more chilled, just tying up loose ends and making sure everything is ready to go. I’ll be making sure the stock is all positioned correctly, checking the lighting one last time, and probably squeezing in a last-minute clean of the stand. Once the doors open, it’ll be non-stop for the rest of the week, so this is the final chance to get everything just right.

For now, I’m just looking forward to putting my feet up for a little while—because once the doors open, it’s going to be non-stop madness! The real work starts soon, and as exhausting as it is, I wouldn’t have it any other way.
