Welcome to todays diary entry! 2 good days back to back now and i am definitely enjoying it more. Having spoke to the Dodge everyday pretty much this week i have always tried to positive on the phone but when things are crap i just say “its amazing” and eventually he gets it out of my what is annoying me but today and yesterday i have been well buzzed up and having speaking to him tonight you could just tell in his voice how drained he has been over the last 4 or 5 months and how it has affected him.
We had a bit of a heart to heart really, well more him telling me how he felt about work and stuff and i almost got a bit emotional myself because when something you are doing (me) has such a huge impact on someone else’s well being and ability to forget about work because he trusts you and feels safe in the knowledge that everything is ok. I did say to him before he went that i wouldn’t be ringing him and i would only call if the shop was on fire but we end up speaking almost daily but i always let him ring me. I can only imagine the panic it would cause if i rang him after saying that i would only call if it was on fire….

Throughout my working life i have always endeavored to be a great wing man and i have always been very good at it. If i look back to my time at Vodafone working with Neil, i was always his wing man. Even at the IVA Advisor/ Vanguard i was always the person that people would go to when they need something doing and something doing properly and efficiently. So to hear him saying those sorts of things was the best possible things i could have heard! I do really hope he has a good holiday no one deserves more than that family.
I think it has been his longest holiday since before the girls were born so if you think 6 or 7 years without a break must take its toll. Especially this year as well with all the shows and how busy it has been with a similar sized team to last year. Then that ties back in the guilt about going away for the winter but i am sure that the physical A and E Leisure shop can cope without me for 6 months. I will still be online but actually in the shop and getting the shop stuff done.
So after the chat with the Dodge i treated myself to a couple of celebratory beverages in the local pub which is about a 5 minute walk away. One thing i have noticed is that just how cool it is starting to get in the morning and in the evening. By the time we got back to the Van we had to put the diesel heater on it was that cold. Winter is definitely coming.
