Welcome to todays diary entry! Last day before I’m flying solo for the weekend. Well, I say solo—Trish will be in, but when it comes to the selling, giving people product advice, talking through the technical stuff, and handling all the curveballs that inevitably get thrown at you in retail, it’s pretty much just me. Trish is brilliant and keeps everything ticking, but I know the lion’s share of the sales and pressure will be on me. I’m hoping it’s busy, but busy in a nice way—with people queueing up ready to hand me their money, not the kind of chaos where you can’t catch your breath. I’ll take the former, thank you very much.

It’s funny how the week builds up to these weekends now. Every Friday brings that same feeling—double checking stock, making sure the tills are working, getting displays spot-on, and trying to second guess what’s going to fly out the door. You never really know what kind of crowd you’re going to get. Sometimes it’s campers just browsing, sometimes it’s serious buyers who are ready to commit. I just hope the momentum we’ve had so far in March keeps going. There’s nothing worse than gearing yourself up for a big one and ending up twiddling your thumbs.

In the background, me and Lisa are still sticking with our weight loss efforts. We’ve made a few little changes recently to try and keep it more manageable and keep us on track without making things too miserable. One of the biggest practical wins was clearing out the garage in the motorhome so we can actually get to the spare fridge more easily.

Sounds like a small thing, but when you’re trying to eat better, convenience is half the battle. If good food is hard to get to, you’ll just grab what’s easy—and usually that’s not the healthiest. The main fridge in the van is tiny, so every bit of extra space counts. The easier we make it to get to things like prepped meals, fruit, or healthier snacks, the less likely we are to fall off the wagon.

It’s also helped us get a bit more organised, which is something I think we both needed. When you live in a motorhome and work all hours, it’s easy for meals to become whatever’s closest and quickest. We’re starting to get better at planning a bit in advance—even if it’s just a few meals ahead—and that really helps. It takes the thinking out of it in the moment and stops you from reaching for the biscuits.

I’ve been thinking a lot lately about where I want to get to, weight-wise. Back in my much younger days, I was about 15 stone, and if I could get anywhere near that again, I’d be absolutely buzzing. I don’t need a six-pack or to be shredded—I just want to feel fitter, move better, and have a bit more energy to keep up with work, with Rory, and with life in general.

Even the way my clothes fit would be a win at this point. I think it’s more about how I feel than any number on the scales, but having a goal to aim at helps keep me focused.

I’ve been really enjoying running on the treadmill at the gym. It’s something that works for me because I can control the pace and make sure I don’t go off too fast. That’s always been my issue running outdoors—I set off like I’m in the 100m final and then completely gas out.

On the treadmill, it’s easier to stick to a consistent speed, keep my breathing under control, and not absolutely wreck myself in the first five minutes. It’s helping build my confidence with running too, and I’m hoping I can transfer some of that to running outside once the weather gets a bit better. Maybe even start doing some proper outdoor 5Ks when the mornings are lighter.

So yeah, a bit of everything today. Work, health, prepping for a busy weekend. Hoping the good start to March keeps going, and that I can keep up my own momentum too. One step, one mile, one sale at a time. That’s the mindset for now—slow progress, steady effort, and trusting that all the little wins will add up.
