Welcome to todays diary entry! Valentine’s Day, and what better way to celebrate than spending it in the shop all day before heading to Birmingham for nine nights? I mean, Lisa really is one lucky woman—whisked away for over a week to the romantic sights and sounds of the NEC, surrounded by motorhomes, caravans, and trade stands. Nothing quite screams ‘romance’ like the smell of freshly unwrapped awnings and the buzz of forklifts shifting pallets of camping gear. Some people get candlelit dinners, we get show passes and exhibitor lanyards. Lucky us!

After a full day in the shop, we finally hit the road to head to the NEC hotel, our base for the next nine nights. It’s always a bit of a mission getting packed up and sorted, and this time was no exception. The back of the campervan was absolutely rammed—boxes, banners, stock, promo materials, tools… you name it, we had it. It never ceases to amaze me how much stuff we need to take for these events. You’d think we were setting up an entire store rather than a stand. Every time we load up, I swear we’ll be more organised next time, and yet, here we are again, cramming the last bits into any available space.

Despite the chaos, I’m really looking forward to the show. It’s always a great opportunity to get stuck in, see what’s new, and catch up with people in the industry. It’s a long, tiring week, but once things get going, the energy in the place is unreal. Everyone’s excited for the new season, checking out the latest gear, and making plans for their next adventures. It’s the perfect place to be if you’re into this lifestyle, and as much as it’s hard work, it’s also something I genuinely enjoy.
One of the things I’m most looking forward to is helping Dometic set up their stand. It’s a brand I’ve always respected, and being involved behind the scenes, making sure everything is spot on before the show opens, is something I take pride in. There’s a real sense of teamwork when you’re building these displays from scratch, knowing that in a few days’ time, customers will be walking through, checking out the products, and making decisions that could shape their travels for years to come.
Now that we’re checked in, it’s time to get some rest before the madness begins. The next few days will be full-on, but it’s all part of the job. Here’s to an exciting week ahead at the NEC—let’s get started! We have breakfast everyday so i am looking forward to getting as much sausage, bacon and hash browns as i can get my hands on. Also, there is a gym here as well so who knows maybe i will be able to get my back side in there.
