Diary Entry – 14th August 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Here we go! We are now on a 10 week countdown until we pop on that boat to Santander and i am getting really excited now. Well i say really excited i will miss being here and like i was in February during the NEC i did feel guilty and element of letting people down for not being “I The trenches”. This time last year we had set off for a little European tour and went to the mainland so i was gone in the middle of summer so at least when i temporarily wave goodbye this time it will be straight after the NEC staring down the barrel of winter so the shop shouldn’t be anywhere near as busy as it is now.

He loves his cosy corner!

It will be interesting to see how long that guilt lasts for when i am sitting in Spain in the sun when everyone here is getting pelted by the British winter, the British dark and the British rain. Especially as we start to get further south and we edge closer to my happy place and get to Tamraght. I will obviously still be online doing online sales etc but not in the thick of it in the shop. But hopefully next year they will have me back in the shop again and hopefully to resume my role as interim shop manager. We will see, if they need someone before i can get back then so be it i am not driven by job titles and status.

I don’t mind working for anyone and am quite happy taking the orders rather than giving them. So we will see, the winter is long and the new season is miles away so whatever they think. I have changed my plan about 5 million times though for getting there keep switching between get the Agadir as quickly as possible and take 2 weeks to get down there. I suppose a lot will be decided on how much time we spend in Spain if we spend a couple of weeks there then we may aim to get to Atlantica quicker.

I just know what i am like and once i have a destination in mind i am just very keen to get there as quick as i can, i have worked it out and if we got a late ferry to Tangier Med i can get to Agadir in a day but that is a lot of driving, roughly 517 miles which for us in the motorhome is about 12 hours worth of driving. We normally do a 1 night stop over at L’Ocean Bleu which is pretty much in the middle. And then do we go to La Relais for a week on the way down… this is what i mean i just cannot decide. One thing i do know is that i wont be wanting to hang around when it is time to leave once i am ready to leave i just want gone again.
