Welcome to todays diary entry! Stoke won last night—which, let’s be honest, has been a bit of a rarity this season—so that was a bit of a treat. It’s been a difficult campaign, and to be fair, it’s looking more and more likely that relegation is on the cards. And you know what? As much as that stings, I actually think it might not be the worst thing in the world. A reset, a chance to regroup, rebuild, and come back stronger. Sometimes a clean slate is what’s needed, and if going down gives us that, so be it. You have to hope that long-term, it forces some much-needed change—on and off the pitch.

The lads came back into work today from their Isabella “training” and have spent most of the day telling me about their jolly. From the sounds of it, they did learn a lot—which is great—but there was definitely some fun had too. I’m glad they got the chance to go. We’re so full-on all the time, it’s important to have a bit of balance, and if they’ve come back with more knowledge and a bit of renewed energy, then that’s a win all round. You could tell they’d had a good time, but I could also see they were re-engaged, and that’s just as important as the learning itself.

The shop’s still absolutely flying. We’re having a really strong start to March. I’m not going to get carried away yet—we all know how quickly things can swing—but so far, it’s been a promising start to the month. The energy is back, customers are coming in with intent, and there’s that little buzz in the air that says people are thinking about holidays and sunshine again. Long may that continue. I think people are fed up of the cold and rain and are ready to get outside again, and we’re right there waiting for them when they do.

Personally, I’m hanging on for my next day off on Tuesday. I can feel it creeping up, and I need it. I’m knackered. These solo stints, while satisfying, definitely take it out of you. There’s no one to lean on, no one to share the load—you just keep going. And that’s fine, but after a while, it catches up. I think by the time that day rolls around, I’ll be ready for a good sleep, a quiet brew, and a bit of nothing. Just to sit still for five minutes and let the dust settle.

The Blakemere event is also starting to loom a bit larger on the horizon, and I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t getting a bit anxious about it. We’ve had such an incredible response from manufacturers this year—loads of support, loads of stock committed—and now the pressure’s on to make sure the footfall is there to match it.

You just want it to be worth it for everyone involved. I’d hate for all that hard work and backing to not be met with the numbers we’re hoping for. Because ultimately, that’s what keeps them coming back year after year. We’ve gone big this year—bigger than before—and that brings its own pressure. You feel like you’ve made promises, and now it’s about making sure those promises are delivered on.

We’re doing everything we can to push it, promote it, and make it a real event. The posters are going out, the social media campaigns are rolling, and we’re speaking to people every day about it. But still, that worry hangs there a bit. The hope is that if we deliver on our side, the customers will turn up and the support will speak for itself. Either way, it’s full steam ahead now, and I’ve got to keep my head down and keep grafting. One day at a time. If we get it right, it could be one of the best shows we’ve ever done—and that thought is what keeps the fire lit.
