Welcome to todays diary entry! Day 1 of 2 down! It is also extremely exciting to think that this time next week i will be enjoying the UK rain somewhere else in the UK than surrounded with awnings. In fact it is only 4 more sleeps until my last day and a lie in. To say that i am ready for it and that i am ready for the break is an understatement it has probably one of the most physically demanding working periods of my life and i am looking forward to cancelling all my alarms and getting the motorhome wheels moving north.
The plan is Arisaig/ Mallaig and then see what happens from there, to be fair i wouldn’t mind if it was just a big field in the middle of no where just the thought of having some proper time off is long long overdue. Maybe even a little trip to Skye may be nice but we will make a decision where we go the closer we get to the time because it will no doubt be the rain and the weather forecast that will decide it all for us. I would like some nice weather but the chances of having some decent weather land on the exact weekend i have off is probably 1 in a million.

This show was always going to be a little bit interesting because we didn’t do this show until this year and with it being towards the back end of the season consumer behavior changes throughout the year. As a retailer we have one eye on winter and the ending of the season and making sure we are best set for the quiet period but also consumers are the same. There is only perhaps 3 more months left of the season and people may be thinking i will wait to next year.
Also, what products they may be looking at can change as well throughout the year so i expected people to be looking more at caravan awnings and stuff like that but it was a lot of drive away awnings this time and a customer had driven from Birmingham to come and see me. It would have to be something pretty spectacular for me to drive a few hours to go and see but some people just want to feel the fabric, stand in side and have a good old look around before buying and especially if they have been dealing with someone they trust them and in this instance it was me. She must be mad.
