Diary Entry – 12th November 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Today we made our move from Asilah to the next stop +1. The next stop was for 10 vans only and since we had acquired almost 25 vans we could really just rock up there so we phoned ahead to the next place and made sure they had space for the 15 odd vans that were coming along with us to and we came to another place we had not been before but wow what a place. It was absolutely stunning. It was a place called Storks Hacienda and was about an hour outside Rabat.

If i was to be totally honest, there had been times during this convoy when i thought that perhaps i should have not done it and instead just made my way down to Tamraght as quickly as we could but last night at Asilah and then again during this Vineyard tour made me glad that i had done it. There have been so many people that said “they were always planning on doing it” but never got round to it or never the right time so to be the catalyst for that was very humbling. Not only that but to be partly responsible for peoples enjoyment of the trip so far and knowing that if it wasn’t for us and this idea they wouldn’t be having it now.

The group that have made it this far are absolutely brilliant and some of my favorites. We don’t have favorites as such but people who we have become quite close to are Neil and Viv and they are just our sort of people. Neil was the guy who had been helping me with our door handle and the great news is that today we managed to officially managed to get ti working 100% today and we officially have a 100% working habitation door. To be fair in hindsight it ended not being as big as a disaster as i thought and i just wished that i hadn’t have let it impact me as much as i did in Salamanca. It is the same as so many other things that end up affecting way more than the actual issue itself.

Today and these guys at this place in terms of the tour and the food was widely regarded as one of the best places we have ever stayed. Made even special by the fact that normally they can only accommodate 10 vans but there was in the end 15 vans of ours and some French people as well so if you can imagine letting 28 strangers into your house and then cooking food for them and having to manage that along with the wine etc. It is amazng and it was so nice. Probably one of the best tagines i have ever had!
