Welcome to todays diary entry! The lads are still away on their Isabella training days, although from the photos and updates they’ve been sending, it’s starting to look more like a bit of a knees-up than hardcore learning. But fair play to them—if you can have a laugh and enjoy yourself while learning, then that’s the best kind of training in my book.
I’ve no doubt they’re soaking it all in, even if they’re doing it with a pint in hand. Bit of envy on my end, but I’ll let them off.
Meanwhile, back at the ranch, I’ve been flying solo again. Another day in the shop on my own, but to be honest, I quite enjoy the challenge. It’s full-on, don’t get me wrong, but I do like the sense of ownership it brings. You’re not waiting for anyone else—you just crack on and do what needs doing.
It’s been busy again, which is a good sign that things are continuing to build momentum as we move deeper into March. It also gives me time to reflect on the bigger picture without distractions, just a clear head and a running to-do list.

We’ve got another new starter joining the team in a couple of weeks, which will bring the sales team up to four including me. I’m actually really looking forward to that. It’s a great opportunity to mould a fresh setup, set the tone from the get-go and instill the right habits from day one. I want to make sure we’re functioning like a well-oiled machine—my way. Not in a bossy sense, but just with the kind of structure and energy that I know works. I want it to feel collaborative, focused, and consistent. Creating a team that can not only sell well but also communicate, support one another and adapt as the season unfolds—that’s what I’m aiming for.

The reality is, weekends are basically just me at the moment. It’s going to be a bit mad this weekend trying to keep all the plates spinning on my own. God knows how I’ll cope, but as always, I’ll just plough on. That’s what I do. There’s no time for faffing or flapping—it’s head down, get it done, and make it look easy even if you’re paddling like mad underneath. And it does feel a bit like paddling upstream sometimes. But I suppose that’s where I thrive. When everything’s moving quickly and the pressure’s on—that’s when I dig in and keep going.
The lads should be back tomorrow, which will be a big help. I’m looking forward to hearing about what they’ve picked up on the training, but more importantly, it’ll be good to have the numbers back in the shop and some weight off my shoulders. You don’t realise just how much you rely on the team until you’re flying solo for a couple of days. That shared effort, the daily bits of backup—you miss it when it’s gone.
But all this hard work now is part of the bigger picture. What I’m really working toward is building a solid, dependable team that I can confidently wave goodbye to at the end of October when we head off for our winter break. That’s the goal—get the structure right, get the people right, and then take a step back knowing the place can run without me for a bit.
Because come November, I’ll be ready to rest my weary body somewhere sunny with my feet up and a drink in hand, knowing we’ve earned every minute of that break. And it’s not just about rest—it’s about peace of mind, knowing that everything’s ticking over while I’m gone. That’s the dream.
