Welcome to todays diary entry! Hump day already, and it’s mad how fast time is flying. Feels like only yesterday we were still in Morocco, enjoying the sunshine, and now here we are, settled back into the UK routine. It’s not just the days that are going quick—it’s the months too. This whole winter has flown by, and in no time, we’ll be moving into spring and summer again. I really like Spring and Autumn and to be fair they are 2 of my favorite months. There is nothing like seeing the daffodils poke there head up out of the soil and with that you know that winter is on its way out and optimism can flourish again. That and it is my birthday on the 9th March so i always look forward to that but not the fact that i will be quite rather close to being 40 and i don’t like the thought of that at all. Growing old is not for me!

It’s strange to think that this time last week, we were making our way to Santander, getting ready for the ferry back to the UK. Feels like a different world now. One minute, we were parked up by the sea, enjoying the fresh air, and the next, we’re wrapped up in layers, adjusting to British weather again. That drive up to the port was full of that familiar bittersweet feeling—excitement to be moving forward but also not quite ready to say goodbye to the adventure just yet.

Since we got back, the weather has been exactly what I expected—cold, grey, and dull. No proper rain, which is something, but the sky just looks heavy and miserable every day. No sunshine breaking through, no warmth in the air, just that lingering winter chill that never quite goes away. It’s a stark contrast from Morocco’s golden sunrises and mild evenings. The days here feel shorter, and everything seems to move a little slower in the cold.
The upside is that we know it won’t be like this forever. The thought of spring and summer keeps me going. I’m looking forward to those first warm days, when you can step outside in just a t-shirt and feel the sun on your skin again. Longer evenings, sitting outside with a drink, planning the next road trip without worrying about freezing temperatures—it’s all just around the corner.
For now, we’ve just got to push through these last few weeks of winter. Soon enough, the weather will turn, the roads will be full of people heading off on new adventures, and we’ll be back in the swing of things. Until then, it’s a waiting game, but at least there’s always something on the horizon to look forward to.
