Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!
I had a bit of an epiphany today. A harsh realisation which made me give my head a bit of a wobble. To be fair, what made me realise was actually my Iphone. Do you know how the Iphone occasionally puts those videos together well i was watching them again and definitely not getting a bit emotional. It then hit me, just how lucky i am to be doing these things with these 2 wonderful humans. Sometimes it is a bit tough when trying to work and if he is struggling with his teeth but actually i am in Morocco, in my motorhome, in the sun and there are probably hundreds of thousands of people that love to do what we are doing.
I have started to take the place for granted, an example was i was going to go for a walk along the sea front and i couldn’t bothered and there will be times in coming months May, June, July and August perhaps when i would do anything to be back here in the sun and walking along the promenade here. So i sat there and thought to myself, what is going on. So i have made a commitment to me and to Mum and the Beef that i am going to make more time for them and i am going to get back to making the most of this incredible place. Especially now it is starting to get lighter for longer.

We were planning on getting up early and heading on down to Banana town to go and try and get to the bottom of this Visa debacle with the Beef but today is a bank holiday in Morocco. On Thursday, January 11th, 2024, Morocco celebrated the “Anniversary of the Independence Manifesto.” This national holiday commemorates the historic event of 1944 when Moroccan leaders presented the Independence Manifesto to the French colonial authorities and the Sultan. This was a pivotal moment in Morocco’s struggle for independence, marking the beginning of a united national movement against colonial rule
A Berber, also known as an Amazigh, is a member of an indigenous ethnic group primarily found in North Africa, with a rich history and culture dating back thousands of years. Predominantly residing in Morocco and Algeria, they have also spread to other regions like Tunisia, Libya, Mauritania, and the Sahara. Berbers are known for their unique languages, collectively known as the Tamazight language family, which includes several dialects.
Their culture is renowned for intricate craftsmanship, vividly colourful textiles, and distinct architecture, often seen in the ksars and kasbahs of Morocco. Berbers traditionally followed a nomadic or semi-nomadic way of life, though many now live in urban areas. They have a rich oral tradition, which includes folk tales, poetry, and music that is often accompanied by traditional instruments like the bendir and the oud.
Historically, Berbers have been farmers, herders, and merchants, with some groups like the Tuareg known for their expertise in navigating the Sahara. Despite the influence of Arab culture due to the spread of Islam, Berbers have maintained a strong sense of identity, preserving their languages and customs. Their heritage plays a significant role in the cultural mosaic of North Africa.
