Diary Entry – 10th August 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! And just like that my holiday is done and here i am back in work and within about 1 hour it was like i had never been away. This day started a little bit different having spoke to the Dodge a loads over my holiday he was buzzing for us to get back he is in a really positive mind set at the moment which is good because the shop really, as in in store is only about 20% of our revenue and it seems to cause at the moment about 80% of his grief. The absolute definition of peratos theory. SO i was expecting him to be at work for 8am on Saturday as the shop on a Saturday doesn’t open until 9am.

This Cheese!

But i was expecting a hero’s return like a prisoner of war being reunited with his comrades but no. All i got was a phone call from his about 8:50 explaining to me that he was waiting for a taxi as he had played football and then accidentally stayed out till 1am in the morning having some beers. To be fair, with the exception of me no one works hard than the Dodge so everyone every now and then needs to have a bit of a blow out. I had one at Tribs on the Hill but he was a little less accommodating than me.

He worked me twiuce as hard and was waiting no doubt for me to say i was feeling a little bit tender but i covered his lateness with the team so they never knew i said he had to go to the warehouse to check some stuff. Like a true wingman i covered for him! So when he got into work about 10ish he looked a little sheepish, i think that is partly because he knows i am an absolute stickler for time keeping. Lateness is a real bug bear of mine.

Someone once said to me that lateness is when someone thinks there time is more important than yours. Since they said that i have been unable to get that out of my mind so when someone is late it gets under my skin. Once is fine but repeatedly gets my back up. So when he arrived he shook my hand told me he was glad to see me and how excited he was for the coming months for the shop etc. He also said to me with a big grin on his face “please don’t dock my wages”. He is a funny guy. I suppose that is the beauty of being the gaffer it is your perogative. Anyway, everyone gets one chance with me and that was his.
