Welcome to todays diary entry! Another day off—two in a row! Honestly, they’re like buses: none for ages, then two come along at once. But I can tell by how I’m feeling that I absolutely needed this bit of a break. Both physically and mentally, it’s been a refreshing couple of days. It’s amazing how just slowing the pace down for 48 hours can change your whole outlook and reset your energy levels.

I managed another 5K today, and this time I upped the speed a little. I’ve found a nice, steady pace at around 7km per hour, which keeps me ticking over without completely burning out. It’s a rhythm that feels manageable, and I think that’s key—it’s not about going fast, it’s about being consistent and sustainable. I want to make running a regular part of my week, not just a short-term fix, and I feel like I’ve finally found my groove.

Rory’s still not very well. His runny nose over the past few days seems to be getting worse, poor little lad. He’s got that really congested, blocked-up voice now—you know, the one that makes him sound like a mini Rod Stewart. It’s both heartbreaking and a bit comical, but mostly it’s just tough seeing him under the weather. He’s still got his little moments of energy, but you can tell he’s not quite himself. He’s clingier than usual too—probably feeling a bit rubbish and just wanting those extra cuddles and reassurance. It’s hard because you want to be able to do more, to take it away from them, but all you can do is try to make them comfortable and ride it out.

Paragraph 3After today, it’s back to the grind—I’ve got another 12 or 13-day stretch of work ahead, but at least I’ve got another day off pencilled in for the following Tuesday. These breaks are few and far between now that the season is properly underway, and I know that before long, we’ll be well into show season, and things will only get more intense.

And make no mistake—the camping season has well and truly started. The shop has been buzzing, and online orders have picked up massively too. There’s a definite shift in the air, and everything’s beginning to move at that familiar springtime pace. The energy’s changing—customers are excited, people are planning their trips, and it feels like we’ve gone from zero to sixty almost overnight. The next seven or eight months will be a complete blur of work, orders, shows, and barely catching our breath.

But honestly? I wouldn’t want it any other way. I hate it when the shop’s quiet. That eerie stillness, the lack of buzz, the feeling that you’re just waiting for something to happen—it doesn’t suit me at all. I’d much rather be full throttle, spinning plates, and keeping things moving. There’s a certain satisfaction that comes from knowing you’ve earned every bit of your rest—and the busier we are, the more it all feels worthwhile.

So, today was another small but important win. Another step forward with fitness, another few precious hours of rest, and one more moment of calm before the storm. Let’s see what tomorrow brings.
