Welcome to todays diary entry! Bank Holiday Breather Before the Storm. Back in the shop today for Bank Holiday Monday, and thank God it’s been a quiet one. After a weekend soaking up the sun and spending some proper time as a family, the slower pace today has felt like the deep breath before the plunge. Because let’s be honest—from here on in, it’s full throttle. I’m staring down the barrel of 28 straight days without a single day off, two major shows, a trip to Scotland midweek, and all the usual chaos that comes with this time of year.
We’re entering what I call “show season limbo”—that grey area where home, work, the road, and the shop all blur together and you’re basically living out of the van and off your to-do list. But there’s a difference this time: we’ve got the new system.

On paper, the tech should make life a lot easier. We can now accurately track what we’re taking, what we’re selling, and how well we’re doing in real time. No more vague scribbled lists or trying to remember what sold where. That post-show admin that used to take days—and usually landed on Dodge and Gina’s desks—is now being passed to me, but weirdly, I’m not dreading it. If the system works as it should, it should all slot into place as we go.
Still, I’m bracing myself. No matter how slick the tech is, you can’t automate stamina, and May is always one of the most exhausting months in this game. We’ve got the North West Regional Meet in Preston this week, and I’m planning to arrive Wednesday night. I always like getting there early—less chaos, more time to settle, and most importantly, Rory gets to sleep in and wake up at a normal time the next day. He might be small, but anyone with a toddler knows that when they’re thrown off routine, the whole ship starts to rock.

This meet is also our dry run for the big ones—Camper Jam and Dubbed Out. Those are our Glastonbury and Wembley finals rolled into one, so if we can fine-tune things this week, it’ll give us a fighting chance when the pressure really hits.
I know it’s about to get tough—mentally, physically, emotionally. But there’s a strange sort of peace that comes with knowing the storm is coming. You start making peace with the tiredness before it even arrives. You dig in, make a plan, and just get on with it. That’s show season. That’s summer in this industry.
And weirdly… I love it.
📅 Cofton Countdown: 30 Days to Go!
One month from today we roll into Cofton, and honestly, the countdown has never felt more necessary. 30 days until we get a whole week to exhale, switch off, and just be. It’ll be a chance to reset after what’s shaping up to be a nonstop May. The idea of BBQs, downtime with Mandy and Feegs, and no 6 a.m. alarms is what’s keeping us all going right now. One more month. We can do this.
