Diary Entry – 05th March 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Welcome to todays diary entry! Despite liking it on that campsite we decided to move on most of it was forced rather than choice to be fair. Our cash supplies had ran low and the nearest cash point was 20kms in the direction we were headed in so the choice was either do a 40km round trip and still have to 20kms back again tomorrow to head towards Tinghir for the next stop so we decided if we were headed that way then we would be better off carrying on.

A view over the Todra Gorge

The site was nice enough and had a swimming pool, restaurant and bar as well that sold real life genuine beer. So we had a quick pack up and headed to Ouarzazate to get some shopping and some cash out as we were not sure whether cash would be available in Merzouga so we got extra out. Last time we were in Merzouga almost 12 months ago the only cash point in the town was empty so i didnt want to be in the same predicament again not have any cash. Paying by debit card is a luxury that not all places afford.

When we found the Carrefour market we had to park around the pack and i had to squeeze through the tightest gap in the world. I am a vert stressy driver so as you can imagine I was on the verge of having a break down as we were going in between 2 lorries that were unloading stuff to the back of the supermarket. We nipped into the Carrefour and somehow managed to whip up a bill of £130 which considering we spent about £250 on Friday i don’t know how on earth we managed to spend so much and feel like we have not got much in.

It is what it is, and after stopping for something to eat we set off for the Todra Gorge and were treated once again to some world class scenery and the view of the gorge as we were driving down was sensational. The good news is as well that we are one stop from Merzouga our end stop so if we didnt like the site we 1 night away but looking at the site when we got here it does look very very nice so hopefully a couple of nights here and then off to the desert for my birthday! This has been the best stop so far in my opinion and looking forward to the sun coming up tomorrow and getting Beef in his push chair and doing some exploring.
