Welcome to todays diary entry! Saturday at a show is always a different beast. There’s a sort of electric buzz about the place that you can feel from the minute you step out of bed. The team knows it, the reps know it, and, to be honest, even the customers seem to know it. If you’re going to have a day where everything comes together, Saturday is it. There’s this pressure that hangs over the whole site—get it right today, and the weekend will go down as a win.
We were lucky to have some extra support this time around with Nathan and James from the workshop joining us for the day. They brought their A-game, offering test drives for the air suspension. You could see people’s ears prick up as soon as they heard there was something to “have a go in.”
There’s always something about hands-on demos that gets people’s attention. If you can let people feel the difference, half the sale is done for you. We had a decent queue at times, and every time someone came back grinning from ear to ear, it just made the atmosphere even better. If we could bag a couple of sales on the suspension, it would more than cover the effort and really put a shine on the numbers for the show.

But there’s no way around it—the physical toll of these weekends is real. By midday, you start to feel the miles on your feet and the hours on your legs. You look around and there’s stuff everywhere: spare pegs, empty coffee cups, catalogues, demo units, banners flapping in the wind.
The thought of the clean-up operation tomorrow is never far from your mind. If there’s one thing I dread about these weekends, it’s the packing up. I swear it always takes three times longer than you think, and you always find something you forgot about as you’re locking the van.
Today was also day one of properly running the new system at a show. That brought its own layer of stress on top of everything else. It’s hard enough learning a new bit of kit in the calm of the shop, but when you’ve got a queue of customers and reps waiting for prices, stock levels, order forms—there’s not much room for mistakes.
There were a few moments this morning where I thought “what on earth are we doing?” but by lunchtime, the team had started to settle in. It was a bit of organised chaos, but I’m actually quite proud of how everyone pulled together. I think we’re all just hoping it gets easier the next time, but at least we can say we survived the first run out!

Despite all the pressure, the numbers really stacked up today. We managed to sell one of the air suspension kits—which was a big win and got a genuine cheer from the team. Every sale helps, but getting those big-ticket items across the line is a different kind of buzz altogether. It means a lot, not just to the show totals, but to everyone’s morale. It’s nice to know that the effort you put in does actually pay off and people see the value in what we’re offering.
As the shutters came down for the evening and the field started to quieten, it was finally my turn to grab a pint and just take a breath. I was definitely ready for a blow out—a chance to just relax, laugh, and share some stories from the day. There’s nothing quite like that first sip after a full day on your feet, especially surrounded by the crew who’ve all been in the trenches with you.
Looking back, it’s been a cracking Saturday. Loads of graft, plenty of laughs, and some big wins for the business. I know tomorrow will be another long one, but for now, I’m happy just to sit down, put my feet up, and enjoy the feeling of a job well done.
