Welcome to todays diary entry! A Moment in the Sun Before the Storm. We’re still at Blakemere Touring Park, and honestly, I’ve been soaking in every last minute of it. These quiet moments, the kind where the sun warms your face and everything just… slows down, feel like gold dust lately. You don’t realise how much you need it until you’re in it. Even though we’re heading back tomorrow and I’m working again, this little breather has been everything.

There’s a reason we keep coming back to Blakemere. It’s like a second home for us now. We know the rhythm of the place, the walks, the little corners to sit with a coffee, and even Rory has his favourite spots. It’s only a short drive from home, but it gives us that feeling of being away—a little bubble where we can pause and reset. And when the sun is out, as it has been all weekend, it transforms into an absolute haven. We’ve been lounging, chatting, sipping drinks in the awning, watching Rory run about like a free spirit. It’s simple, and it’s perfect.

We’ve even booked to come back in June, just to have something in the diary to look forward to—mini check-ins for the soul. But right now, June feels lightyears away, and the next few weeks look like one of those brutal slogs we just have to grind through.

We’re off to Scotland on Wednesday night for a flying visit to see Lisa’s family. It’ll be good to see them, but it’s a lot of miles for a short trip. We’ll be back late Friday night and then, from the 10th of May to the 30th, I’ve got no days off. That’s 21 consecutive days of go-go-go. So much for my noble resolution of “taking a day a week to stay sane”—turns out that was wildly optimistic!

We’ve got two heavyweights on the calendar:

  • The Caravan and Motorhome Club North West Regional Meet in Preston
  • Followed immediately by ClubFest in Tarporley

Both of those are full-on. The kind of weekends that start before sunrise and end long after sunset. And then, before we even have a second to breathe, we’re off to Cofton. It’ll creep up on us. It always does.

But that’s summer in this game. It’s a pressure cooker. You don’t coast—you survive, adapt, and keep your head above water. It’s like being strapped into a rollercoaster and trying to drink a coffee at the same time. And yet, weirdly, there’s a part of me that loves the madness of it all. Maybe not while I’m in it, but definitely when I look back and realise what we’ve pulled off.

At the moment though, I’m just really, really enjoying the quiet. The warm sun, a drink in hand, Rory giggling as he discovers something new. These little slices of peace mean more than anyone probably realises. I’m clinging onto them tight before the schedule kicks back into chaos.

📅 Cofton Countdown: 32 Days to Go!
🌄 32 days until peace
🛻 32 days until the van is parked and the workload melts away
🍷 32 days until sunsets, BBQs, and belly laughs with Mandy and Feegs

Cofton is more than a holiday—it’s our reset. Our anchor point after what is going to be an insane May. And after everything—hospitals, stress, shows, and missed family time—I can’t wait to be back there, breathing in that fresh air with a clear head and a full heart. We’ll get there. One day, one shift, one packed van at a time.
