Welcome to todays diary entry! Wow! A whole day off! It feels surreal to not have to rush out of bed and straight into work mode. I even managed a bit of a lie-in—not much, but I wasn’t awake until 07:20, which, in my world, counts as a luxury. The best part? Rory slept through the whole night, which is always a win. He’s been sleeping well recently, but he’s also getting more poorly with the worst runny nose. It’s always the way with kids—one minute they’re fine, the next they’re full of cold. It’s tough seeing him all blocked up and not his usual energetic self, but at least he’s been sleeping, which is a small blessing.

The first order of the day was the gym, and I was determined to make it count. I ran 5k without stopping, which I was absolutely made up with. I did it in about 44 minutes—not exactly record-breaking pace, but the main objective was to keep going without stopping, and I did just that. The sense of achievement was massive. It’s been a while since I’ve properly pushed myself like that, and it felt good to tick off a small but important milestone.

After the run, I treated myself to a steam room session and a jacuzzi, which was pure bliss. There’s something about sitting in the steam room after a workout that makes you feel like you’ve done a proper job of it. The heat just melts away all the stiffness and tension, and for the first time in a long time, I felt properly relaxed.

After the gym, I headed back to the motorhome and, for the first time in weeks, let myself have an afternoon nap. I don’t usually nap, but today, I fully embraced the fact that my body needed it. It was one of those deep, heavy sleeps where you wake up not knowing what day it is, but it was exactly what I needed.

Later in the afternoon, I headed over to my mum’s house to help her out with her garden. She’s not been doing great lately, and I know that little things like having a nice garden can really help lift her spirits. Me and my sister got stuck in, planting some nice flowers and setting up a couple of garden ornaments to brighten the place up a bit. It wasn’t a huge job, but it made a big difference, and Mum was absolutely over the moon with it. Seeing her so happy made the effort more than worth it.

It’s been a simple day, really—nothing extravagant, nothing wild. But it’s been exactly what I needed. A reset, a bit of exercise, a bit of rest, and some time spent doing something meaningful. I don’t get many days like this, so I’ve made sure to appreciate every moment of it. Tomorrow, it’s back to work, but at least I’ll be heading in with a clearer head and a bit of renewed energy. Days like today remind me that balance is important—working hard is necessary, but taking a step back and recharging is just as crucial for the long run.
