Diary Entry – 03rd February 2024

Did you know you can follow us on our journey on YouTube!!

Today the couple who never travel have gone travelling today. As Mum hadn’t been very well this week i had planned a little bit of an adventure for us but to be honest ended up turning into a little bit of a nightmare but i will come onto that later. I wanted to be up nice and early and i was out packing stuff away before the Beef was awake and before it was even light. I was proper excited for getting out and couldn’t wait. I didn’t do a lot of research id just typed in on Google day trip0s from Agadir and thought id steal one of the excursions ideas but drive us there instead.

I had the sat nav ready on my phone and ready to go and the drive time was about 2 hours so wasn’t too bad. Pulling off from the Campsite we pulled into the nearby petrol station and i topped up the tank, it was over 3/4s full but i though may as well fill it up. I also wanted to put some air in my tyres as well as i couldn’t remember the last time id done that. So filled up and blew up and we were off. After about 10 minutes of driving after Mum had done some serious researching about where we were going she said the drive is over 3 hours….. I was was like “no it isnt, it is 1 hour 36 now”. Somehow over the course of the planning and discussing where we were going i had got confused between Tafraoute and Taradannt.

After a little bit of deliberation we realised we were going to the latter of the 2. The closer one. I honestly don’t know how we got it so mixed up but never mind. It was on the same road for now so we hadn’t gone any further than we needed. As we were driving i kept waiting and waiting for the beautiful amazing scenery we had seen on the way to Paradise Valley but it never really happened and we just seemed to keep driving through semi residential areas so the drive was no where near as pretty as i was hoping. Once we got to our park up it wasn’t a great one, it was very cobbly but we were determined to have a great time so we took it for what it was, it was ok, we could see the medina wall from our Moho so it was quite nice. We opted for electric pitch because it was absolutely melting. Probably one of the hottest i’ve ever been. So we reversed into our space straight into the garage to get the electric cable. That was when it hit me, id left it back at the campsite. That had the potential to be a code red event! So that meant no air conditioning and we are not great in the heat.

Bollocks, i said in French. We were on a cobbled park up, where it was already hot, straight in line with the sun, which was hot. It was a disaster so we put the blinds up and the extractor fan on and hoped for the best. We got our stuff out and headed into the Medina to try and find somewhere to eat and have something to drink. We stopped at an amazing restaurant which really felt like it had no right to be there. There was lovely green grass and bushes and a water feature and outside of the wall was a dusty medina so it was a little bit like an oasis in a desert. Food was lovely and we had a nice walk around to be fair. By the time we got back to the camper the sun had just set behind the medina wall so now it was all windows wide open with the fly screens down sat at the front of the Moho with a cold can of Corelli. Although i think my fridge is playing up on gas which is something i will need to keep my eye on.
