Welcome to todays diary entry! Another delightful day in Salamanca today with the crew. Once again i needed a little bit of extra time clearing the fog but i can honestly say that this time it wasn’t my fault and actually the ones you would expect the least were this time at fault. We needed to do a little shop and i wanted to get some fresh air in my lungs. The thing with Salamanca is that it is quite high up i think it is around 700 or 800 metres above sea level so i though that some fresh air and a little walk along the river would perk me up a bit.
To be honest, it didn’t. And if i was to be brutally honest there were a couple of times i thought i was going to be poorly. This wasn’t helped by the fact that the shop was absolutely roasting and the walk was almost Kilimanjaro esc. It was a quite a steep climb. I was at one of my poorer moments as Mum had to take over from the push chair pushing so i could intermittently stop walking and take a couple of deeps breaths. The supermarket so excruciatingly stuffy and what was 10 minutes felt like 10 million minutes. It was horrendous.

We had promised that would cook a Paella tonight which was why i was in the supermarket in wildly hot conditions in the first place. I needed some bits to be able to throw in to go along with the spicy sausage we had bought from Potes. We needed the usual ingredients like rice, peppers etc. Being on the move so much isn’t conducive to having an extensive larder of food and you almost need to only have a couple of days of perishable foods. Id love more space in this motorhome. It comes back down the whole thing of having to pack for 2 things, travelling a bit and then being somewhere for a number of months.
The only alternative would have been to not bring that big awning but with Rory being the age he is at the moment we need that bit of enclosed space so we can let him roam free. Being on the move a lot again, isn’t ideal for him because there isn’t a lot of running about space. I think again this time next year we may not need an awning and we just go with the big wind break idea. Although i may feel differently once i have been in Agadir for a few months and really benefitted from the space.
Anyway, the Paella was delightful and Kel who used to do music quizzes did us a little music quiz until about 11pm then it was off to bed. Not sure what the plan hold yet but no doubt time will tell.
