Welcome to todays diary entry! It felt a bit odd waking up and not immediately diving into pack-down mode. Sundays usually signal the beginning of the end – boxes being filled, stock being shifted, gazebos reluctantly folded away while we mutter about pegs and ropes. But today wasn’t that. Today was… calm. Well, calm-ish.

We were still trading, and it turned out to be a surprisingly decent day on the sales front. People were wandering around with fewer time pressures – slower, more relaxed, taking the time to browse rather than dash from one stand to the next. It gave us the chance to chat more, build rapport, and actually enjoy the process a bit. It reminded me why we do this – the people, the conversations, the buzz when someone’s genuinely excited about what they’ve bought.

What really threw me, though, was having to reconcile the day’s banking at the show. Usually, that bit’s left for Dodge and Jen to tackle once we’re back – spreadsheets, receipts, and “where the hell did this £20 come from?” moments spread over a couple of days. But now, with the new system in place, we’re doing it in real time. Right there. Mid-show.

With wind rattling the sides of the gazebo and Rory trying to hand me a half-eaten banana. It’s efficient, yes – but it definitely took some adjusting. I think we’re all still getting our heads around the change, but it’s one of those grown-up, sensible things that will make life easier in the long run (or so we keep telling ourselves).

The weather, once again, couldn’t make up its mind. We’ve had it all today – sunny spells, quick bursts of rain, and this relentless wind that just wouldn’t quit. I can cope with rain. I can deal with a chill. But wind? Ugh. It’s my absolute nemesis. It gets under your skin – makes everything ten times harder, messier, and more irritating.

I couldn’t stop thinking about that time in Tarifa. It was so windy, we could barely hear ourselves think. Everything flapping, clattering, dust flying sideways – you couldn’t even enjoy being outside. I remember sitting there thinking, “why do people voluntarily come here?” Tarifa may be a mecca for windsurfers, but for normal folk just trying to enjoy a coffee outside, it’s a nightmare. Ever since then, I’ve had zero patience for wind.

Anyway – tomorrow’s pack-down day. Back to the usual chaos of flattening everything and playing motorhome Tetris. It always feels like such a mission, especially when you’re already mentally half on holiday.

Speaking of which – WE ARE SO CLOSE NOW. Just over a week to go and then we’re off on our break. The countdown has well and truly begun. Although, in classic fashion, the weather forecast for our holiday is looking utterly grim. Honestly – you wait all year, plan everything perfectly, and the clouds decide to throw a hissy fit just as you’re setting off. Typical. But rain or shine, we’ll make the most of it. We always do.
