Welcome to todays diary entry! Sunshine, Sales & Suntans. The first official day of Club Fest kicked off today, and if we were judging solely on weather, it would’ve scored a straight 10 out of 10. It was absolutely glorious—clear blue skies, blazing sunshine, and that proper “British summer at its finest” kind of day.

But ironically, that kind of perfect weather can actually be a bit of a double-edged sword. As the campers rolled in this morning, it became pretty clear that shopping wasn’t high on the priority list. With tents and vans pitched, most people made a beeline straight for the beer tents and outdoor seating areas, ready to soak up the rays with a pint in hand. And to be fair… who could blame them?

The footfall was there, but the foot traffic into the marquee was definitely slower than we’d hoped. That’s the tough thing about these kinds of events: the weather has huge influence. A bit of drizzle and people flood into the retail spaces looking for cover and end up spending a few quid. Blistering sunshine? Suddenly it’s a beer-in-hand, feet-up, sunglasses-on kind of vibe. The challenge becomes drawing them away from the bar and into your stand. And today, that was a tall order.

Still, despite the quieter retail activity, it’s hard to complain when the vibe is this good. The atmosphere across the site has been brilliant. Kids running about, dogs lounging under deckchairs, music playing, and everyone generally in top spirits. And honestly, that kind of positive energy is infectious—it gives you a bit of a boost even if the till’s not ringing off the hook.

Personally, I’ve started developing that classic two-weeks-in-a-field tan: brown arms, a red-tinted nose, and an aggressively pale stomach and feet. I always forget how daft I look until I catch a glimpse of myself in the mirror or get to Morocco and remember that sun there works differently. Lisa always jokes I look like a drumstick lolly after these UK shows—half tan, half ghost. Not far off.

It’s early doors, though. One quiet day doesn’t define the weekend. These multi-day events always play out in waves, and we know from experience that Friday and Saturday are usually where the real action kicks in. For now, I’m just soaking up the sunshine (with factor 30 applied liberally) and getting mentally prepped for the days ahead.

🏖 Cofton Countdown: 9 Days to Go! 🏖

We’re now into single digits—and I can feel it. Just 9 more days until we roll into Cofton and breathe out for the first time in what feels like forever.

The motorhome will practically drive itself there at this rate. Cofton is shaping up to be our official reset button—a bit of family time, some sea air, and absolutely zero thought about Luton vans, marquees, or stock lists.

This last stretch of show season has been full-on. Rewarding, yes, but intense. Cofton is the carrot at the end of the stick—and it’s no longer a distant dream. It’s just around the corner now. We’ve got a few more busy days ahead, but knowing that Cofton is waiting on the other side makes it all that much easier.

Let me know when you’re ready for the 24th!
